I’m in the same boat, I love HH BF. C&D BF #5 has similar ingredients but has a completely different flavor. Unlike C&D burly, the burley component in Wessex Burley Slices tastes similar to HH BF. I have yet to try solani.
I will order and try John Cotton’s double pressed burley sometime soon. It’s a crumble cake with the same burvaky ingredients

John cotton too I think has been discontinued. ( I hope I’m wrong)
But I do like some John cotton!

Wessex Burley Slice is really good blend. Just have to catch it when it drops as it sell out right away.
I have been hoping to get my hands on some. Unfortunately I am not very good at the race to purchase tobacco online. I actually don’t really understand how people ever catch releases in time.

C&D Burley Flake #5 is sold as a burley forward blend with a Virginia backing and DFK in the background. Sounds similar to HH, but no doubt has the distinct flavor of C&D burley.
This has been on my radar but I haven’t pulled the trigger on it yet. Though as much as I love c&d burley I imagine it wont be very similar to hh. Even so I will be giving it a shot soon.

As a big fan of burley, I haven't yet come across anything quite like HHBF, unfortunately.
Great reply and thanks for the info. I am right there with you on the chocolate vs cocao. I am completely against anything too sweet.

You are the second to recommend Jupiter and I happen to have a tin I haven’t gotten into here with me so hopefully that will suffice.

Sadly the world needs more burley blends.

Good luck getting your hands on some John Cotton’s. They are no more as well. That being said their double pressed burley just missed the mark for me. It was right up the alley of burley that I like but was a little bland and weak. I had to mix the last .5 oz of my tin with five brothers to get through it.

While we're on the subject, if you haven't had Semois yet and you're a burley fan, you need to give that a try. Again, it won't be even close to HHBF, but you might enjoy it as well.

Mac Baren Navy Flake is still available or going to be kept on by STG last I saw, this one is burley-based and you might like it too.

Would love to get my hands on some. I really need to up my game on hard to get blends. I am not sure how anyone manages to get their hands on some of this stuff. I have never received an email from smoking pipes in time for a release before selling out.

I think hiking was the only one not made by K&K. Not 100% positive but remember reading that when doing some burley blend research.
I have a decent collection of cobblestone tins in my cellar and I just checked to verify.

I have tins of hiking, chess knight, king, rook, fishing, burley plug and Kentucky plug. The only tins that are produced by k&k are the 2021 tins of chess knight. All others are sutliff including more recent productions of chess knight.

I think k&k may have stopped producing cobblestone a few years ago.

I was going to say, this is the only one I've seen suggested (still yet to try myself) that comes close and is still around.

Everyone is focusing on the Kentucky (old dark fired) but personally, I think the 2 biggest losses to especially the US market from all this are A) Balkans and B) Burleys
As far as Balkans you have basically all the ones that Russ Oulette created (hands down best Balkan blender of the last generation imo) gone.. then Burleys not only are these special (relatively rare) flake ones gone, but also all of Sutliff's match blends etc.

Virginia and perique will continue to do fine with C&D but quality Balkans and innovative burleys... those are the blends that are looking to be damn sparse for the foreseeable future...

Well, isn’t Mac Baren closing its doors in 2027? Wouldn’t more HH Burley Flake be produced? Or are they cutting the US market completely?
