If you are talking about Turkish meerschaum with a push/pull delrin connector, then the next step is to go oversize, which involvesre-drillingg and tapping the shank. Using foil or string will work in the short run but may lead to cracking the shank since you would be using these quick save...- fred

Help For a Meer Rookie
Like a clay pipe, a meerschaum will get hot, which is the way that these pipes cool the smoke. I'm not sure why it would be more of a problem to keep blends lit in a meerschaum vs a briar... Many pipe smokers don't use beeswax on their meerschaums, which is OK if you're in it for the way they... -

Indeed, Fikri Baki's pipes are excellent and have been available only from Deniz Ural for years. I have 26 of them. I will add that others also employ the same style of mortise/tenon connectors with large drafts, such as IMP, Tekin, Cevher and Sami. Sinan Altinok has also switched to this...- fred
