    Help ID a Sasieni

Looks like an “Old England” based on the rustication. But they had loads of different names they used on lesser grade pipes.

    2008 Peterson POTY Oddity

    Yep, that’s a paint filled P. It’s correct.

Any Love For Non-Bulldog Diamond Shanked Pipes ?

A Pete 82s I made a tapered stem for, belongs to a (former?) forum member.

Any Love For Non-Bulldog Diamond Shanked Pipes ?

A Diamondback Cob, a couple of Pete Milvertons, and turn of the century French billiard.

Any Love For Non-Bulldog Diamond Shanked Pipes ?

You definitely don’t want to smoke that, but since I’m such a nice guy I’ll take it off your hands…. 🤣 But seriously, that’s a nice IL Ceppo.

It is correct, Manx/Laxey made loads of those and they all have that style tenon. The theory is that with tenon fixed there is no stress on the unmounted shank. It is 100% correct.

And on the KW, all three probably form the same rod.

I have not seen that color available and I doubt it’s actually acrylic, it’s probably polyester resin. It is cool though.

It’s more yellow/egg yolk than orange. You see next to an actual orange amber stem on meer Cutty/ cigar holder.

I get that rod from Vermont Freehand, it’s called “Amber Extra”

Yep, they made both the double pitch and single pitch aluminum tenons, they also made single pitch bone tenons, though you don’t see them to often. And yes they did make loads of replacement Catalin and red Bakelite stems but I’ve never seen one that style with the heavy bend and square shank...

You are absolutely right on all counts except that WDC made those well into the 20’s. Celluloid is easy to spot, it doesn’t resemble anything else and it’s usually turned to dust by now. Ameroid and Amberol are a bit tougher to spot but there’s a few ways to tell. Catalin (colored Bakelite) is...

That aluminum tenon is 100% correct for a WDC, unlike the Europeans WDC favored aluminum over bone. They made loads of those chubby square shank meers and they almost always had aluminum tenons, I’ve worked on and repaired several. They even sold replacement aluminum tenons, I’ve got a whole...

Yeah, early on in the wartime briar shortage things like aluminum for stingers and plastic for clovers was not in short supply yet but as the war went on those things started drying up as well. When that happened they started doing away with stingers and logos. I suspect your pipe is an early...

What's Your Favorite Lynyrd Skynyrd Song?

Steve Earle with the Super Suckers cover of Before They Make Me Run is a deep cut, hard to find but well worth it. It’s one of my favorite cover songs along with Lucero’s cover of Modern Love. Long live Eddie Spaghetti!
