    Peterson made LOADS of meerschaums. Mostly African block… And that is definitely not a clay.

    Cough, cough… Well… actually Peterson made just that from about 1896 to 1940. 😉 But the above pipe is not one of them.

    They’re all from the same rod stock, since it’s swirl it varies a little from stem to stem. The 20B was cut with the swirl facing out as opposed to on a diagonal or facing up. That’s why it looks a little different. * correction the bog oak is catalin.

    They vary wildly, they were made for a long time. But for the most part they tend to be thin in the bite zone. Resistance to oxidation varies from pipe to pipe.

    A stainless tube mortised into either end and epoxied would fix it. But that means either snapping the shank all the way off or reaming it down the entire length with very long hand reamer.
