Hearth & Home Cerberus: A Very Brief Review

Review: It's good! Thanks for reading. Ok, a little more detail. I picked this up a while back but didn't know much about it other than its Latakia forward and so far I've liked the other H&H tinned blends. So I was expecting a heavy Latakia English blend, which I enjoy when it's balanced...

Gawith, Hoggarth & Co. - Exclusive Black Cherry

Like many, I've been on quest to find a decent cherry blend. Well, this is it. This is a natural cherry flavor. I like candied cherry flavors but every tobacco I try like that turns my mouth into scorched earth. This one doesn't. It's smooth and easy to smoke and adds enough flavor to make...

    What Is Happening Here?

I stripped the Oxblood stain off this pipe using Oxy Clean. I started sanding it with 220 3M sandpaper. These brown spots started appearing. I've never seen this before. Anyone else? Any remedies?

    How Do They?

Assuming these are one piece of briar and they are going for the air hole being centered at the bottom, how in the world are they drilling these things? Did they invent drill bits that go around corners when I wasn't looking?

    How Much Pg?

So, was just digging under the couch on the back porch where I smoke and found an old bag with some smoking stuff. Inside was this bag of tobacco. This has to be 9 to 10 years old. I opened it up and it was moist! It looks like mylar pouch but it’s just got Mylar on the front and back...

    Pick Up A Rinaldo

You don't see a or of talk about on here. This one was sitting on Mkelaw-pipes.com for about two months and the price seemed reasonable so I pulled the trigger. Thoughts on the brand?

    Anyone Else Love Maintenance Day?

Spent part the day reaming, cleaning and buffing my pipes. Once I start, I love doing it. I'm amazed at how much carbon come out even when there doesn't seem to be much cake. My favorite part is buffing and shining. and seeing an old pipe go from drab and dull to polished. I like the look...

    The Radiator Pipe

Anyone have one of these Hekthor Wiebe pipes? There was one on the classifieds last week. I'm curious how they are. Morgan pipes has some. I'm normally not a system pipe kind of guy but they look interesting.

    COVID Pay It Forward

Hi All, I messaged Kevin and cleared this. Since we're in the middle of what is a difficult time for some, I thought we'd start a Pay It Forward thread for those in need during COVID for our fellow pipe smokers who are affected by the virus by being out of work. I know some of us have tins or...

    Custom Designed Bamboo Tampers

You now, you smoke a pipe long enough and just when you think you've seen everything, you are bound to get your mind blown. Custom tampers that preserve Dunhill pipes! (He doesn't clarify if they will preserve other pipes so proceed with caution.) I can't believe you get 3 for such a low...

    Grasmere Flake

Share your thoughts on Grasmere Flake. Trying to find a tobacco that the wife might be able to tolerate. How is this from both a room note and a smoking perspective?

    Aged Flake Tobacco

Over the past six months I’ve wanted to try an aged flake but have none since I haven’t been a flake guy in the past. Tonight’ I found this sitting in the back of an old tobacco drawer. 15 year old Germain Latakia Flake. I’m hoping it surprises me in a good way

    Plug Virgin Loses His Innocence

Having my first bowl of GH&Co Dark Plug and what a delicious experience, I expected it be just a different form of their ropes but am delighted it is different. It’s in the same strength family but more nuanced and refined. If you know motorcycles, the ropes are Harleys, this is a Ducati...

Gawith Hoggarth & Co.: Black Cherry Twist Review

So this isn't an initial review as I have finished 4oz. I've copied over my review of GH Coconut Twist from TR and modified it. if you've tried the unflavored ropes, you've tried this one. I loaded up G&H Cherry Twist in an multiple billiards. In the bag, no Cherry smell. In the pipe, no...

G&H Black Twist Sliced - Initial Thoughts

As I journey through the G&H family of twists, this is my first encounter with a presliced version. It comes in a green and white bag. Don't be fooled by imitations like some of the Chinese knock offs such as Gowiths & Hogwarts Blackish Twirl Sliced which I discovered is mostly burnt hay &...

    Your Piping Joys

In counter to the pet peeves, what are you joys in pipe smoking? We all have things we love about it or we wouldn't be doing it. So what are some of yours? I love pipes. Even more so than tobacco. Yes the one is made for the other but to me pipes, specifically briar, can be...

I Got A Diamond In Mail

I came back inside from my nightly smokes and found a package waiting for me with these gems inside! Humbled by the givers generosity! I told him I’ve been enjoying ropes and in addition to the flakes he sent me enough rope to last for mo this! Pipers are the best.

Things That Suck For $100 Alex

Bought two of these on clearance at Starbucks. I liked them because they were cheap, fit in the Keurig and have a top and a non-slip bottom. Unfortunately, they also seem to drain the heat away from any beverage inside them within 15 to 20 minutes. If they put these on the outside of the...

    GL Pease Gaslight

I went into this blend with high hopes but after every smoke this just strikes me as yet another medium English blend. I don't get the heavy latakia others have. It seems Latakia light to me. The Oriental spiciness comes through nicely but without any variance while the Virginia's just seem...
