    Storing Italian Dry Cigars

Dry cigars don't need humidification. Just throw them in a jar or seal them in mylar. Done.

    Core Four

I'm uncomplicated: Carter Hall Newminster No. 400 Haunted Bookshop HH Old Dark Fired I prefer to have variety, but I'd still be happy with a couple of great pipes and those four blends. I like latakia, but could live without it.

    Show us Your Best Smoker

I have a pipe that I named "Mr. Crowley." I mainly use it for perique heavy blends.

    Show us Your Best Smoker

MM Zenon. It always gives a great smoke no matter how lazily I pack and light.

    Hunting scope for 30-06

It's an Axis, guys. A Leupold is overkill. I've been happy with my Simmons fixed 4x, not sure of the model or other specs. It's cheap and it stays on zero.

Smooth Cobs: Possible Damage to Finish

It's plaster of paris underneath a top coat. You could recoat them I suppose with some kind of varnish or wax. If they went through a wash cycle (I assume you mean through the laundry) then they would have been soaked in detergent, bleach, or some other stuff I wouldn't want the residual...

    Red Virginias

McConnell Red Virginia. Just a smidgen of perique and a lightly applied topping, but the VA is the star. I've been enjoying it quite a bit.

Ruminations on Error of Smoking Quality Theory

While I'm sure there could be some effect on flavor, the biggest difference that I notice regarding chamber shape and dimensions is the ease of packing as related to the cut of the tobacco. Ex: trying to pack a chunky, ribbon-cut aromatic into a narrow-chambered chimney could be pretty finicky...

    Help me on Vulcanite Restoration

I think it's probably starting to re-oxidize even as you polish it. I've seen this happen with flash rust forming on hot carbon steel as it was being polished, and it's a similar chemical process. Maybe polishing with a mild abrasive (baking soda or activated charcoal powder) mixed with an oil...

    Help me on Vulcanite Restoration

Do you oil the airway? I've taken to doing this with my vulcanite to prevent the interior from oxidizing, but I have no idea if it's necessary or not.

Ruminations on Error of Smoking Quality Theory

Many factors are at play that affect the perceived quality of a smoke. I'm not sure if it's just luck, but I seem to be able to get a good smoke out of any pipe I pick up - large or small, cob or briar, straight or bent, et cetera. I regularly smoke pipes with crooked and off-center drilling...

    Delusional Burly

It's burley, burley, burley for me, too. Occasionally I break from that and go for something different, but I just like burley a lot. It's like that scene from Forrest Gump. "Burley with sauce, burley without sauce, Cavendish-processed burley. Burley with virginia, burley with perique, burley...

Greetings from a DFW native, now residing in beautiful Cascadia.

Fist Ever Rustication &. New Rotary 2/17/24

It looks good. What did you use for the top coat? It has a satiny look that I like.

I've Got Friends in Low Places

I like cobs, cheap briars, and bargain bin tobacco like Smoker's Pride, which many pipe smokers might frown at. I'd rather drive an old Corolla than a brand new Cadillac. In general, I like getting bang for my buck with cheap stuff that works well. Quality doesn't have to be expensive, and most...

The same goes for much of the English language as well.

    Smoker’s Pride

Ouch! Those tobacco taxes in Canada are brutal.

    Horn Stems

Yes, the elitists do so love to dump on anything that isn't expensive enough for their tastes. I've gotten good smokes from a $16 Lorenzo basket pipe, too.

    Horn Stems

Nice! I love paneled shapes. That one looks nice for a shorter smoke.

    Smoker’s Pride

The ones that are geared towards RYO (Rich Taste and Mellow Taste) are discontinued, AFAIK. The others are definitely pipe tobaccos, and not just RYO labeled as "pipe" tobacco.
