Help Identifying This Piece of the Pipe

Oh haha, now I feel rather foolish! I was told when I bought my first pipe from literally an old school pipe blender (he has long since past but was around 78 when I met him) to never use a filter in a pipe. I actually brought my little Dr. Grabow into the shop which had a cheap filter in it and...

Help Identifying This Piece of the Pipe

Hello All, I am considering the purchase of a pipe from Altinay. However, I noticed that some (not all) have this odd little clear plastic piece where the stem fits in. I am used to just seeing a hole carved out for the mortise in the shank where the tenon fits in. However here it looks like...

    Social or Anti-Social Pipe Smoker?

I would say usually alone. For me, there is nothing more satisfying than being outside in nature, watching the trees sway in the warm breeze of summer, or seeing those same trees stark and gray against a foreboding storm approaching when the world has turned all but grey. The birds chirping...

Looking for Smooth or Lattice Meerschaum That Won't Break the Bank?

I've often wondered about the falcon system of pipes, I have been thinking of trying them out. Maybe I will now, thanks for the tip!

Looking for Smooth or Lattice Meerschaum That Won't Break the Bank?

That's actually really solid advice the more I think about it. I usually smoke 4 bowls a day, so I would want one that can stand up to the test.

Looking for Smooth or Lattice Meerschaum That Won't Break the Bank?

I see. What is the difference, in taste? or how long it will last? will the cheaper ones crack? I thought also of a Rattray's meerchuam lined, would that be good? It's about $90

Looking for Smooth or Lattice Meerschaum That Won't Break the Bank?

Hi Everyone! I never owned a Meerschaum pipe, and was looking for a "beginner" one. I'm not too crazy about staring at a carving every time I smoke (just personal preference). Anyone know of a brand in the $50 or so range? I'm looking online and see them mostly at about $100. I'm looking to get...

Anyone Know Why Solani Aged Burley Flake is So Scarce Lately?

Yes that one looks quite good! Have you ever tried Five Brothers? I wasn't sure if it was actual Pipe tobacco or RYO tobacco. I don't have any problem with RYO but sometimes they put a lot of additives which I don't like.

Anyone Know Why Solani Aged Burley Flake is So Scarce Lately?

I'm considering that, I was actually just browsing their shop earlier searching for Solani and I saw they had some Burley. Have to give that a try!

Anyone Know Why Solani Aged Burley Flake is So Scarce Lately?

I think what I most liked about it was the fact (to me) it had little or very light flavoring. I also found it was strong in nicotine. I primarily started smoking again for the taste, but I do like blends with more nicotine. Always have.

Anyone Know Why Solani Aged Burley Flake is So Scarce Lately?

That's good news, and I think I may give that a try on the local shops. Maybe I will get lucky! I think I'm craving it because of the season change. I always enjoyed this more in the summer months and didn't care for it in Winter. For whatever reason.

Anyone Know Why Solani Aged Burley Flake is So Scarce Lately?

ha! Perhaps I may end up prolonging my time without it! Good call I won't make that mistake again.

Just wondering, it's one of my favorite blends and I can't seem to find it. Thanks!

Inhaling Burley-Based Blends-Which Ones do You Recommend?

I don't mind mild additives, just nothing too intense. Amphora sounds nice I might give that a try!

Inhaling Burley-Based Blends-Which Ones do You Recommend?

D&R, thanks I will check that out! I used to use that for RYO products, wasn't sure if they have lots of additives or not, I can't remember as it has been awhile.
