    Sam Gawaith And Moisture

I tried drying it for a few hours and it was good. I left some overnight and fell asleep before I had my evening bowl. I will try it out today and see how it goes. Do you also smoke cigars? I am in a very humid part of the world now, and have been wondering how to go about aging some cigars I...

    Mold?

What Got You Into Pipe Smoking?

yes I agree, smoking has always been a big stress reliever, but the nice thing about a pipe is that the stress tends to go away. With the cigarette it's more of a pause on stress. That being said, I do still smoke cigarettes lol

What Got You Into Pipe Smoking?

For me, it was my father. I remember sitting inside watching him light up and viewing his awesome collection from the 70's and 80's in the den. Some really nice pieces there including several Petersons and Nording freehand designs. To this day those are some of my favorite pipes. After he would...

Recommendations on a Lightly Flavored Blend That Retains Tobacco Flavor

These all sound like great recommendations, thanks all! I love being part of the piper community. Although I don't have anything against others forms of tobacco, I think pipes truly have some of the widest variety in terms of choices and some of the most knowledgeable patrons out there. Thanks...

    Sam Gawaith And Moisture

I do a I do as well! But I really had to puff to keep it going. I felt it was even wetter than Erinore flake which is pretty heavy on the moisture content. I kind of fell in love with the Drucuer blends which are all drier in comparison. They don't have a pressed flake that I have seen, but...

    Sam Gawaith And Moisture

Got it, I heard about people doing that before and I never felt the need with other blends. But this one in particular was much wetter than anything I tried before

Recommendations on a Lightly Flavored Blend That Retains Tobacco Flavor

Hello, I normally smoke English blends, but lately I have had a craving for some lightly flavored blends that still retain a true tobacco flavor. I am also looking for something with a higher level of nicotine. I enjoy both the taste of tobacco and the soothing effects of a good dose of...

    Sam Gawaith And Moisture

Hello All, Wondering how many of you have experience with Sam Gawaith. I tried a few blends and enjoyed them, but found them to be extremely moist. Prior to this I have mostly had only Rattray's and Drucquer which I find to be far less dry. Do you all dry out the tobacco a bit prior to...

    Mold?

Yes that characterizes it better, the crystalline description. I think I may have purchased an old tin that must have been aging.

    Meerschaum cleaning hot water rinse?

Ver Very true. Not a bad shop for the area I am in but I don't think they know much about pipes. They were not aware Peterson had an amber stem line either. I showed them a pic and they said "that isn't real amber lol"

    Mold?

Hello, Just went to try my first Balkan Blend and I saw a lot of white coloration on the tobacco. I am guessing this is mold? There wasn't the usual hissing of air coming out of the tin but I did have to pry it open.

    Meerschaum cleaning hot water rinse?

That's what I suspected, but I figured better be safe than sorry. I prefer briar pipes but at the moment this was my best option so I can smoke multiple bowls per day without worrying about burning the briar out or souring the pipe. As an aside, I just tried squadron leader for the first time...

    Meerschaum cleaning hot water rinse?

Hello Everyone, I just bought an IMP Meerschaum pipe, it's quite nice. I have been doing the hot water rinse for my briar pipes. I am assuming this is not a good idea for the Meerschaum since the store owner told me not to get the pipe wet. Is that true? Should I also avoid smoking the...

Help Identifying This Piece of the Pipe

That was essentially what the "old man" at the pipe store said (everyone that worked there referred to him as that even in front of him, so I am in no way being disrespectful). I guess the way I looked at it was that if I am going to do an activity that has some risk involved I don't mind going...

Help Identifying This Piece of the Pipe

Oh interesting, can you elaborate as to what a Delrin tenon is?

Help Identifying This Piece of the Pipe

Haha, yes I know that's quite true. However I have always naturally had a disdain for filters. My first smoke was an unfiltered camel "stud" when I was about 14 or 15. Never looked back lol.
