Very interesting!
I have given a light reading of the report That mso highlighted.
It looks like the authors did take some liberties with the statistical analysis with respect to CI and grouping only pipers with pipers who had used cigarettes also. To understand this, look at the "statistics...
ssjones: I have been jonesing the pipe ever since you first posted it. Was it new and recently manufactured? I do not think I can afford one but you never know!

Which is where the metal shank pipes come in. The Kirsten, Viking and Falcon are easy to clean and do a good job of removing the moisture form smoke. My only complaint is that the bowls are small and I believe that the briar shank does make for more flavor.

It is a sound of approaching winter. The first time I heard them was on a Labor Day back packing trip in the state of Washington. I couldn't see them and had to ask someone what that was. They sure taste good.

Welcome to PMF

Old Dublin is an English type blend. It does have some cavendish also according to some reviews. The latakia may be bothering your throat. Try a mild blend like Early Morning Pipe or a straight Va. like Dunhill flake or Union Square.
Enjoy the journey. :puffpipe:
When asked if a friend could smoke one of my pipes, I thought for a while and reached into my pipe bag to retrieve a Dr. Grabow Viking metal pipe. It is easily cleansed with alcohol and washed with soap and hot water. No problem.

The reading I have been doing indicates the pot is a good pipe for smoking Lat blends. Never had one. I favor English blends so I have been shopping for a pot. I like the 1/4 bent over the straight ones.
I just got word that should please pipe smokers in the Bay area. The shop in Mill Valley, North of the Golden Gate, has set mid September for opening a second shop located at 550 Montgomery Street at the corner of Clay Street.
I have been wanting to visit them for some time and having them in...
I have a shop pipe from a shop in Augusta, Georgia with the same finish, rings, and "FRANCE" on the shank as yours. Additionally, it is stamped Sir Calabash.
Hope that helps you.
