Vintage Aluminum Pipes
Straight vs bent availability: The Bent ones are keepers. (Just joking) Metal pipes: The 3 main makes, Falcon, Viking and Kirsten are interesting to smoke and the experience is "different". Only Falcon is still made but Kirsten may start up I have read. I do like mine. :puffy:- loneredtree

Dillema With Rim Plateau on a Very Nice Pipe
Hold on Gentlemen. Why not use a symmetrical flame like the Zippo pipe lighter with or without the butane insert. Or, the nimrod commander. You don't have to shoot the flame over the right hand rim that way. :crazy: :puffy:- loneredtree

Viking Mouthpiece Removal
If you have the metal shanked Viking, yes they stem is removable. Try putting the shank /stem in the freezer. If that does not loosen it, try freezing again but put hot wet rag only on the metal to cause it to expand keeping the stem cool and contracted. Good luck. Is it Possible to Not be Able to Taste Tobacco?
I do hesitate to say this as I will catch some grief. But, Painted you may be getting the raw mouth from smoking OTC blends. They tend to be more moist and have humidity producing chemicals that bother my mouth. If you have a B & M that you can go to, Get some house blends of non aromatic...- loneredtree

Kirsten Pipe Bowls
Zonomo, I have a Kirsten and a Viking (similar to falcon) and have looked at Falcons. They all have small standard bowls. The Kirsten has a lot of parts and cleans up nicely. What'd the Difference??
The one at P&C is listed as a Lovat (round shank). Judging by the size it is abt a group 4. The weight is light for the size indicating good briar. I am not sure about the magnum or the G. Yours is a lumberman (oval shank, saddle stem). Check the dimensions to compare with the listed pipe. Nice...- loneredtree
