This pipe that is. I've adopted this 'mystery' pipe and could really use your help in identifying who the 'famous' maker may have been.
Here are your clues, good luck!

Marked on bottom of shank "France"

Pipe measures 6 inches in total length
Bowl OD 1 5/8"

Bowl ID 13/16"

Bowl Depth 1 3/4"

Bowl height 1 7/8"

The 'big' clue, FRANCE, narrows it down a lot, huh?

Thank you for your help and most of all your time!

I'll be of no help on this, but it's a really cool pipe. I love the gentle blast and the multi-colored stem treatment -- the stem looks comfortable, too.

Sorry, I can't help either. Nice little pipe though! I have a vintage 50's Charatan that is very similar in shape/blast/color. Of course it's an English pipe, but a remarkable resemblance.

OK,I'll start with it being made in St. Claude, France. I would further hazard a guess that it could be from the EWA factory. Just a guess, mind you.

BC usually marks their pipes. It could have been made for a shop, hence no other nomemclatire. There a something like 7 pipe factories in St. Claude; so the mystery deepens.

I think weezell nailed it. The bands are the dead giveaway. BC uses such banding on several of its lines of pipes. Since the one that is the subject of this thread is only stamped "France," then my guess is that it is a BC second that for one reason or the other did not make the grade, as it were, for whatever line of BC pipes it was originally destined for.

I have a shop pipe from a shop in Augusta, Georgia with the same finish, rings, and "FRANCE" on the shank as yours. Additionally, it is stamped Sir Calabash.
Hope that helps you.

Thanks guys! I always know to come here with questions. You guys chimed in so fast and right away I have my answers. Thanks! Butz-Choquin it is! It's really turned out to be a great smoker and one I'm sure to keep.
- Little info about this pipe and the colored bands. The green band was actually white. I found out fast Oxy Clean turned it green as soon as it hit the mixture of Oxy and water solution. - ;(
