    Esoterica - "Stonehaven"

Nothing is like Stonehaven - definitely not ODF. That said, it's not my favorite. I can just see why people who love it, love it. I think we're also faced with a problem of hoarding for hoarding's sake. Lots and lots of people just buying, buying, buying within a year of starting the hobby...

Two 14 Year Old Pipe Smokers.

NYC is still nice enough, just pricey. De La Concha was a good pipe shop, but it's been replaced by a Davidoff which I've not visited. If I had visited it in the 50s, I'd probably have a different opinion, but I'm of a rather younger generation and enjoy the West Village. Hudson Bar and Books...

Looks Like SF.Uk Is Back Up

I guess they didn't learn from last time. Their last backup was from 2013...

Umberto Eco is Dead: Long Live Umberto Eco!

RIP. A true loss. Foucault's Pendulum was a fantastic book, as was his nonfiction. I only recently got a copy of The Book of Imaginary Lands, perhaps it's time to break it out.

    Dunhill Bamboo Bruyere

I was reading an article somewhere recently which I assuredly will never find again that seemed to indicate the Whangee (bamboo shank pipe) was made in Dunhill during WWII due to a briar shortage, or some such. Less briar used if you don't need a shank on the thing. I wonder if that's true.

    St Bruno Now Available

I like the flake, the pricing on this is quite irritating.

Your High Dollar Artisan Pipes: Display Only? Or Smoke Away?

No one cares about my pipes but me. I smoke them. No one will be any more enthusiastic about my collection should a particularly nice pipe be unsmoked, and for me, if I like the way it looks, I like it because it looks like something I want to smoke... and who am I to deny myself.

Does Anyone Here Want Any Dan Tobacco Salty Dogs Plug?

Yeah, I agree. The price is another thing that keeps me away. I did make an order from SP recently and they said they had one left in stock, so what they hey, impulse buy. Unfortunately, it got sold out from under me as I was checking out :0 Probably for the best, I don't need to fall in love...

Does Anyone Here Want Any Dan Tobacco Salty Dogs Plug?

Hahah, I was all fired up to order some on my own til I noticed the DHL shipping price. Truth be told, if that's flat, order enough and it'll still be as expensive or even less expensive than over here. I'd like to give it a shot one day but not enough to battle the hoarders who seem to snap it...

    crack in my new pipe?!?!

You smoked too hot in the bottom of the bowl. It's hard not to do that with a new bowl. The layer of briar between the draft hole and the wall is very thin there as it comes to an angle where the draft hole emerges. That's a very very common area to get some char, which is what that is. Not a...

St. Bruno May Be Coming Back To USA

In what world could ODF pass for St Bruno? I just hope it's the same stuff I got in pouches from overseas years ago before the whole, flakes have to be X thick to prove they aren't cigarette tobacco thing.
