My P&C order is leaving ... Hawaii.

It's better for your sanity not to look at the tracking information too often. Just order and forget. Save your face palming for when after your order arrives. First, you'll be happy you got something you forgot you ordered and second, you'll be amazed at the route it took to get to you. I've...

    Is This Pipe Worth It?

Buying an estate pipe on ebay can be fun and rewarding. But if you are not sure what you are looking for and don't know the comparative value of pipes, you are risking your hard earned cash. If you are set on an estate pipe I'd say buy one from a forum member here who can advise you on the use...

    Baer Bowl Pipe

lucky695, first I filled in the hole on the bottom and the deep bite marks with black super glue gel. I let that dry and sanded it down smooth with a sanding sponge, then with steps of fine micro-mesh pads. I then buffed it with white diamond compound, applied some stem polished and buffed that...

    Baer Bowl Pipe

I've been having a very hard time winning auctions on ebay recently. It seems there are a few wealthy individuals with thousands of purchases in front of their stars who are willing to pay top dollar for the beat up pipes I'm used to getting for less than ten bucks. Must be a conspiracy! I was...

    Blackout Blues

Same thing happened here in Portland last weekend. I lit a Coleman lantern and retreated into the comfort of my smoking room. When the power came on three hours later I was actually disappointed.

    Another Pipe on the way

Is that a Yello-Bole "Checker"? I've got my second one sitting here in front of me awaiting refurbishing. I think you'll enjoy yours a lot. The scoop or stinger comes out easily for cleaning and I find it does provide for a cooler/drier smoke when in use with no impact on draw. It also keeps ash...

    Alzheimers & Tobacco

drwatson said: Yeah, they are required by federal law to include all those warnings even though a tiny percent of patients taking the advertised medication experienced some sort of adverse reaction even if it wasn't shown to be directly caused by the medication. If 3% of people taking a...

July 2014 Ever clear legislation in MD

I paid $15.00 a few months ago for a bottle at a state run liquor store here in Oregon. The proprietor informed me he had to register all sales with Homeland Security since it can be used as an accelerant or an explosive device. Hard to believe, but that's exactly what he said. I'm probably on a...

    Military Mount Definition

I have an old estate cherrywood Ropp with a 9mm shell casing shank repair. It seems to work quite well.

    Photography Finally Got Too Good

A different, happier experiance here. I thought the Irish Harp I bought from Smokingpipes.com looked better in person than the web site picture which made the dark stain look much darker on my computer monitor even though I had tuned my monitor according to their instructions. Even the...

    Magic Inch?

Can they be smoked without a filter? That's really the only reason I haven't been bidding on them on ebay. I thought they required a filter to work.

I'm Cheap. Fix My Cell Phone Please.

May seem odd, but I haven't actually talked to anyone on my phone for months. All communication has been by text and email. When a call does come in it's startling. "Who the hell is that?!" It usually turns out to be the car dealership telling me I need an oil change or my bank wanting to sell...

I must say I rejoiced in Canada's response to this awful act. All the right things were done and all the right things were said.

Four New Dr. Grabow Pipes and Case

I googled Tuxedo pipe. It was made by Medico. Here's a link: Medico Tuxedo Scroll down to the T's. There's one listed on ebay now, but it doesn't look to be in redeemable condition. Darn.

Four New Dr. Grabow Pipes and Case

A nice find! I think the round depression held a briar medallion of some type with a ribbon. The picture is too low res for me to see what it is clearly.

    Doodling Around

@condorlover1, That was the theory, but it lead to other problems with uneven heating and structural weakness which Tracy Mincer was not able to overcome. This pipe weighs in at just over an ounce. Not bad considering it's six inches long. The bowl diameter from rim to rim is one inch. The...

I need help with my first pipe(s) restoration project...

@newbroom, For really rough stem cases I used a sanding sponge. They are especially good at getting to curved surfaces. Then I switch to micro-mesh pads. The files are great, too. I've even used emery boards in some cases. Here's a link to a previous discussion on the subject: Essential Tools
