    Whitehall pipes: what's your opinion?

I've got three Whitehalls, all are meerschaum lined and made in Italy. Two of them are in my regular rotation. Here's where I posted them. Whitehall Trio

How to Clean the outside of my pipe bowl?

Here's where I can learn something. I've been using Everclear to clean the outside of my pipes, even scrubbing with a toothbrush soaked in it for rusticated surfaces. It does remove the wax along with the dirt but I've never noticed any stain coming off on the cotton pads. I've been using...

    VDT pipe

Yep, nothing comes up on the Net for VTD pipes. Do post a picture. I've got several of my grandfather's pipes. He smoked Wally Franks and Falcons. Also have a Hiland's Eagle I he smoked. He obviously wasn't interested in pipe collecting. Pipes were just a tool used to burn his Prince Albert...

    3 Vintage British Pipes

Most impressive! Besides a labor of love on your part I'd say you've done an act of public service by restoring these beauties to use and posterity. I love seeing posts like this.

    Weekend Refurbishing

I was cleaning up three ebay estate pipes over this weekend. The last one I picked up was this Doc Grabow Golden Duke. I have to say, I've never been disappointed by one of these older Grabows. A plus for this one is that's an "adjustomatic" and it still adjusts.

    Old Tom Howard Pipe

newbroom queried: Well I just did a Custombilt image search and didn't see anything like that. Sorta blows my theory out of the water.

    Old Tom Howard Pipe

wyfbane, I'd love to see what yours looks like. After reading everything I could find on Tom Howard I'm pretty sure he didn't actually carve this particular pipe. The pale blue dot on the stem is kind of strange and there are some references to Tracy Mincer being the actually maker, using...

    Old Tom Howard Pipe

Here's the "after". It was an easy clean up even though I had to use the "freezer" trick to get the stem off. I'm going to like this little pipe a lot.

    My First Oom Paul

I enjoyed looking at these Ooms! I don't have a pipe in that shape...yet. Still working on that.

    Old Tom Howard Pipe

Tom Howard was a vaudeville and radio entertainer back in the day who also made pipes. I believe I've seen posts from other forum members who have some of his pipes, so when I saw a pipe listed on ebay with "Tom Howard" stamped on it, I offered my five buck bid and waited. Nobody else was...

Using A Hand Drill For Waxing Pipes

I uses a variable speed hand drill. It works very well for me. Sablebrush, I imagine you have drive over to the next county to find your pipe after that!

Anyone feel like a good gouging?

I'm with woodsroad. Those who want to spend that kind of cash on rare items are free to do so. The rest of us find our delights in two-buck-per-ounce Balkan Supreme. As a consumer I don't feel abused.... just amused.

My First "Made in Canada" Pipe

Steve, in a Reborn Pipes entry had done some pretty good detective work. Here is his entry: Reborn Briarmeer Mine is just about like new and will only require a ream and clean. Looking forward to firing it up this weekend!

The Dirty Fact About Pipes That Tempt Me to Quit

I've got new estate pipes coming in every week, so I guess I do enjoy cleaning them! I don't smoke in the house but I do enjoy walking around with a freshly cleaned alcohol scented pipe in my mouth.

My First "Made in Canada" Pipe

I've got Swiss made pipes, Italian, English, American, Russian and even a Japanese pipe, but this is my first Canadian pipe. It's a Briarmeer and has an odd cutout bowl with a meerschaum insert as you can see in the second picture. The pipe appears to not have been smoked often, which is...
