My BEST smoking pipe
I'm always throwing a new pipe into the rotation but if I want a sure bet on a good smoke I'll choose one of my Medico Jets. They feel great and smoke wonderfully. So much so that every time I see one on ebay I'll make a go at it because I know it'll be a winner. -

I can't find any evidence that bowl has been topped. I have a couple estates which have and the rim either has saw marks or is slightly uneven. This pipe seems to be a squat pot by design. It's a good smoker, but because of its small size it has to be puffed gently. I use it for aromatic blends... -

Restoration Advice
The tar comes off with generous amounts of spit on a cotton pad. I use acetone and cotton pads to remove varnish, if that's what that clear coat is. You may need to also use a toothbrush if that rustication is deep. After that it's just a matter of buffing and waxing. But don't do anything...- tuold

Best Balkan to Start With
I've only tried WhiteKnight, PS Balakan Supreme and Balkan Luxury Blend 957. WhiteKnight is my favorite but Balkan Supreme I can afford by the pound. Balkan Luxury Blend 957 is the last one I've tried and it rates third for me. Now I'm interested in trying Black House after reading these...- tuold

Pipe problems!
I think you would come into significant trouble if you tried to smoke that pipe. You can see daylight through the bottom of the "bowl"! I wonder if it was even intended to be smoked in the first place. Maybe just put it on the shelf as the first of your collection :-)- tuold

I'm definitely an Android/Windows guy, but I won an iPad 2 in an online contest. I was a little perturbed with it since it wouldn't talk to my network without downloading paid apps.
