That was funny. I had told my friends what I wanted. I think they stopped in only one store, couldn't find what I wanted, and so, "Surprise, have some Clan." Vile stuff. I wish more of my friends went to France. I miss Caporal Bleu

Sir, please try revor. It's extraordinary. My favorite is RB Plug, but it's not to everyone's tastes. I'm suspect of the man who doesn't enjoy Revor, however.

@mawnansmiff: Of course. I am in Pittsburgh, Pennsyvania, U.S.A.. I used to be able to get my tobacco shipped from Greens of Leeds, GQ, or Fox, but no more. Luckily, my friends travel more frequently than I, and I can usually cage a little St. Bruno (swear it's different in the U.K.)...

Thank you, gentlemen, for answering my questions. I enjoy plugs very much when I can get them, which is becoming more difficult. I am amazed at the quality of tobaccos available at a British or Irish newsagents.

    Nylon Stems?

I have a few pipes with nylon stems. For me, they aren't comfortable and wear out quite quickly. You might have different luck.

    What Is Everyone Drinking Tonight?

Infuriator. No wonder M was such a bastige.

    Non Famous Pipe Smokers

Well, Gillette doesn't turn much profit around here, do they?

Found a Drink That Tastes Like Tobacco (Well Almost)

Sorry, I was just curious. I went looking for possible connections and learned about the chewing tobaccos. I can't say it made me any more likely to try prune juice.

Found a Drink That Tastes Like Tobacco (Well Almost)

I think it's a component flavoring of a lot of loose leaf tobaccos. Did the original poster ever chew tobaccos?

Didn't realize the Erinmore Plug was only available in Ireland. A very kind gentleman once sent me Condor plug, which was delicious and the Gaelic health warning was interesting. Can you still get Yachtsman?

Those in the UK are very lucky to have access to so many great plugs. Yes, they can be a bit of a bother to prepare, but boy, they're good. I wish I still had access to Revor plug and RB plug.

New Briar Pipe - No taste?

I am too bad with my hands to sand! If you are better with them, that's a very good idea.

New Briar Pipe - No taste?

Could be. It usually passes once broken in.

    McConnell Ripe Honeydew

I agree that McConnells is a brand I like, but should point out that the brand is made by Messrs. Kohlhase und Kopp. I say this not to be obnoxious, but to say that K and K tobaccos almost always ring my bell. In a world dominated by danish homogenization, they provide wonderful variance...

Pipe smoking in a cigar bar

Did anyone notice that this was a cigar bar? Surely, the purchase of a few drinks would cover one's obligations not to be a deadbeat? The purchase of a cigar would, of course, be a nice gesture but hardly necessary, in my opinion. As long as the original poster did not nurse a light beer for...

    McConnell Ripe Honeydew

Odd tobacco. Shag cut, like everything from K und K, exceedingly high quality. But the topping is incredibly odd. Packs effortlessly and needs no false light. Immediately, the smoker is greeted by a blast of clove--very, very similar to a kretek. As smoked, I'd swear this had a rose...

Ditto on the Lapsang Souchong. It's very reminiscent of a dry English blend.

Corona old boy pull out tool

If that doesn't work, I have a pipe master that doesn't light anymore. More than happy to send you the tool. It is gold.

    Tokyo Area Tobacconists?

Best shop in Japan as far as tobacco selection is definitely the one mentioned off the Shinjuku station, although there is another very good one off the Tobu side of the ikebukero station. Kikusui in the Ginza is, however, the friendliest in all Japan. Not big, but we'll stocked and helpful...

    Amphora - Original Blend

Never had the Brown. I always smoked the Red. I really wish they'd bring back Troost Slices
