My new Peterson lighter won't light :(

Remember, the stem goes in your mouth, both tobacco and fire go in the bowl.

    Fold and stuff flakes

I smoke unrubbed flake only when in high winds. Otherwise, I seem to be reaching for the lighter more frequently and I'm desperately trying to conserve fossil fuels for future generations.

How Do Your Animals React To Your Pipe?

Wouldn't say completely indifferent, but that was the one that brought her running. And definitely the only one she'd sniff at the rising smoke. Weird, I know.

How Do Your Animals React To Your Pipe?

The bouvier (ridiculous name, fairly decent beast) assumes that if pipe, then back yard and begins snorting and wiggling her stump of a tail the minute she sees it. Doesn't take any particular notice of the actual smoke, preferring to snuffle around the bushes and generally amuse herself...

Threads That Go Poof in the Night

Blessed lunedì dell'Angelo to all. Or Dyngus Day. : )

    Has Peterson Quality Really Declined?

I will always be loyal to Peterson, but I have to admit that I was thoroughly unimpressed with the quality of an 8s Deluxe my wife bought me last fall. The stem left the factory with wavy tooling marks. But I will say, like all of my Petes, even an atrocious B5 donegal, ugly as sin, loose stem...

How Do You Treat Your Pipe ?

Much like didimauw, I'm afraid. I also tap them out on my heel. I've some very nice pieces that must that aren't quite as aristocratic looking as they started.

    Finally Tried Dunhill Dark Flake.....Wow!

Funny how tastes differ. It rang my bell.

    Name that flake

Looks like a Fred to me.

    Finally Tried Dunhill Dark Flake.....Wow!

Don't tell people this is any good. It's readily available and reasonably priced.

To cake or not to cake?

I like a lot of cake. I do ream them once a year or so, though.

Odd, Strange, Or Exotic Things You Have Eaten Plus Tobacco...

Whale sashimi followed by Best Brown on a day trip to Kyoto. Frankly enjoyed them both, although I did feel a trifle guilty about the Best Brown as it was my last bowlful.

Wishing everyone a safe and wonderful Happy Easter

Buona Pasqua to all who celebrate.

    Kizami

I wouldn't say kizami tabako is particularly strong. It's possible, and usual, to have several bowls. Frankly, I think it just suits the Japanese nature to have an ethereal experience.

    Kizami

Kizami is a very, very finely sliced Virginia. I've smoked it--it is light and airy. You sort of mound it into a little ball and put it into the tiny bowl of a kiseru. It is gone in two or three puffs.

    Even my dog knows...

My bouvier is deeply offended if she doesn't smoke with me. Grabbing a pipe equals instant dog appearance. I think she'd like me to smoke larger pipes.

How Long Would This Last You? (Showing Off, Big Pics)

Shutterbugg is probably great fun at parties. I could totally see him wearing the lampshade.

New pipe Break In Bitter taste!

Be stubborn. Pipestud knows what he's talking about: some pipes are good smokers very quickly. I don't dispute this and some people may not like the eait. But I've come to believe that almost all well-made pipes will become good smokers with perseverance. And before you think I'm asking the...
