The Briar, The Story, And Pipe Magic

I'm most interested in the story behind the pipe. Love the Lovat because I like the story behind it. Love pipes made between 1910 and 1916 because they might have "gone over the top." I'm a sucker for the human aspect.

St. Bruno May Be Coming Back To USA

I have. The flavoring is very similar, but the constituent tobaccos are nowhere close. Danish tobaccos are much of a muchness...sometimes I think there's one flake recipe and it's only the toppings that change. You want one that was completely emasculated, try some Erinmore Flake. That went...

    Imaginary Basket Pipe Selection: Which?

@dottie: Right on. Nothing like a French pipe. Chacoms, Genods, Jeantet, P.Viou....thankfully nobody really agrees with us.

    Any Comments on this St.Claude?

Well done, sir. French handmade are hard to beat. Let me know if you'd like to deal. Otherwise, great find, and enjoy a wonderful pipe.

    Any Comments on this St.Claude?

No, he's a hell of an artisan. His name is Jean Masson. Well found, sir. Some of us prefer the French pipe. Pm me if you don't love it.

    Any Comments on this St.Claude?

I think that's a Maitre Pipiers pipe. That wasn't easy to make,

    Difficulties With Lighting My Pipe

And yes, the top layer should turn red. Don't draw too hard, but you are looking for embers. Don't worry about relights. One day it will just click and become relatively mindless. U til then, just try to enjoy the taste.

Is My Pipe Stem Upside Down?

Scrupulosity should be avoided in pipe smoking as in religion, sir. Definitely shouldn't be keeping you up at night. The smoke will draw either way!

How or Why Did You Start Smoking a Pipe?

Both of my grandfathers smoked pipes and I grew up with them puffing away. I'd like to tell you that was the reason. In reality, I was an eighteen year old kid from the suburbs of a one horse (not even a stop sign) town plonked down in the middle of a large university trying to look sophisticated.

Cosmic (Cosmicfolklore) is Now a Mod

That doesn't sound like much fun for you, sir. Not sure congratulations are in order, but I've been lurking a long time and you have the even keel for it.

    Side Effects Of Pipe Tobacco?

Simply the nicotine, sir. The spins and queasiness are normal when you over indulge. Slow your cadence down, don't worry about relights and don't be afraid to leave it if it's too strong. At this point, I smoke every bit as much for the nicotine as for the flavor, but there was a time when I...

Is a Dremel Type Tool Worth Having for Piping

May I second those who suggest you buy a Dremel tool for general use? They don't do much for piping, but they're incredibly useful for so much else.

    Revor Plug

@guyrox. Sorry. I didn't see it. It's a Gawith plug unfortunately no longer imported. Lovely stuff. Nobody knows what the "RB" stands for, but it's speculated that it is a continuation of the old Redbreast flake. Maybe because there is a little bird on the label. I didn't mean to change...

    Arnie - Dead at 87

I've met the man on a few occasions. Latrobe is only about 40 minutes away and he was very active. There was no difference between his public persona and who he truly was. A prince of a man. Not many were ever like him.
