Esoterica Tilbury in Stock @ PayLess Pipes

Tilbury was an early favorite of mine, I still like it but don't smoke it as often as I used to, I have a pretty good pile of tins because it was once easily available and I bought a good many... ...currently in stock at PP, although a bit spendy...

Why is 3 Nuns so expensive?

Mac Baren is so stupid that they didn't even know 3N was a VaPer! (LOL, perhaps the most famous VaPer of all time no less!) Mac Baren is so arrogant that they think they can go gaga like Gucci! (LOL, as Amy Winehouse said: no no no) Mac Baren was so ashamed that they're Danish that they made...

eBay just pulled all 15 of my listings for sealed tins...

Beefeater is right, Pipestud is your best bet. I successfully sold several sealed tins on ebay last week, but in retrospect, I should have went with Pipestud's consignment shop as I probably would've made out better... MURRAY'S MELLOW MIXTURE sealed tin CUTTER TOP !!! unopened :puffy:

A Bewlay Pipe Thread With Pictures

Probably an error on the tobacconist's part, I forget exactly whom put out the catalog off the top of my head, but it also illustrates an issue that Jon has brought up, namely that sometimes in the case of advertising or catalogs, old images can be utilized, and that appears to be the case here...

    Sasieni - Bowls Coated?

Much like Parkers which in many cases didn't get the Dunhill oil-cured process, I'd speculate that many Sasieni 2nds didn't receive the oil curing and that most likely the treatment was exclusive only to proper Sasieni Dot pipes.

"God Tobak" :: pre-internet tobacco reviews, from Denmark with Love

Jensen has kindly sent some more images to share with us: Note that delightful "Tobak" brochure which features some wonderful artwork by Robert Storm Petersen, who also showed up earlier in a pic from Jakob's book, can you see the red Storm P. pouch? Who is Storm P.? I'm glad...

A Bewlay Pipe Thread With Pictures

This has developed into an intensely excellent thread gents, thank you. I can't add much, but offer a few images. Here are some 2nds from a 1939 tobacconist's catalog: And here's an advert from 1940, take note that the bowls appear to be uncoated:

Why is 3 Nuns so expensive?

They ain't gonna get my sixteen dollars either, the bastards! I think the price point is ridiculous, absurd, and infuriating. An even worse offender is Salty Dogs, wuddup wi dat?

    Dream TAD - 50 Plugs Of Warrior - 1920 Murray's Billhead

Confused? Yep, this thread has made me aware I couldn't add two nickels to make a dime! Browsing the 1923 Dunhill catalogue, there are a few items listed in the L/S/D format - humidors & mahogany cabinets, and, the seven day companion set of Bruyere pipes in Venticase which are listed like...

    Dream TAD - 50 Plugs Of Warrior - 1920 Murray's Billhead

Bill, I think it actually may have been shillings/pence, my mistake. I stand corrected. How much was 25 shillings? Here's a page from a 1951 catalogue, and if a SSG cost as low as £ 7 at that time, it is highly unlikely that in 1920 a Bruyere would run £ 25... : :

That's a very good question, I may be incorrect in my assumptions there. Hopefully Condorlover may know and clue us in.

    Dream TAD - 50 Plugs Of Warrior - 1920 Murray's Billhead

25 pounds was the going rate back then, which was about double that of "normal" pipes. It's yet another testament to Alfred's innate abilities as a marketing genius. Other tobacconists scoffed at him and predicted that he'd shortly be out of business with such a premium pricing strategy, time...
