An especially difficult re-stem (another giant straight grain)

Your gleam lines are showing. :-) Dayum! That's a stunner. Excellent work. How'd the duckhead transplant go? Was it taunting you the whole time?

    Your favorite GL Pease blend?

Also, read this review by George D. and you'll want to immediately try Westminster! http://pipesmagazine.com/forums/topic/glpease-westmenster :puffy:

    Your favorite GL Pease blend?

I gotta add Gaslight here too, it's one of the few Lat blends that is in my rotation, it offers a very full deep richness which is often lacking in Lat mixtures bodywise - and a lovely tongue-coating creaminess, along with a sort of oiliness I can't describe, plus other superlative sensations...

The Breathability Of Briar Wood - What Do You Think?

EDIT. That was a dumb question on my part, about the briar block  shows what a rank amateur I am LOL ...but the question still goes for stummels after cutting...

    Question About St. Bruno

Condor LC is $15.37 per 50g pouch at GQ Tobaccos, cheaper than the St. Bruno over here!

Why is 3 Nuns so expensive?

These memes are inspired by the old MB ad campaign: "Explore the World of Mac Baren"... I couldn't resist! : : : :

The Breathability Of Briar Wood - What Do You Think?

I think that's a good point. Was your block air cured? What about the old heat-assisted oil-curing techniques? Like at Sasieni for example: http://pipesmagazine.com/forums/topic/a-look-into-the-sasieni-oil-curing-method Would such an intensive curing process greatly curtail moisture content to...

A Bewlay Pipe Thread With Pictures

This is one of the coolest looking Bewlay pipes that I've ever seen, it was made by Barling: http://shuzed.blog104.fc2.com/blog-entry-197.html : A Comoy-made Bewlay; : A Bewlay's walking stick circa 1892: As found here: http://www.anti-q.jp/annexe/canemania.html : That 1890's price list...

1913 BBB: Why Did it Sell for $300?

Thanks for being a wet blanket George! You had to be a party-pooper and get all realistic and sensible 'n stuff. Excellent post. Thanks. Your point about actually having the object in hand is particularly of note I think. Perhaps why Asteriou for example is so good at capturing...

    Dunhill Seven Day Set

Another round of ranting, and an earnest plea for consideration if mayhaps someone from the White Spot market research department happens to see this. Alfred Dunhill created the greatest range of pipe shapes ever; that many of the designs lay neglected in the dustbin is a crying shame --- how...

    Question About St. Bruno

I think I'd agree with this, they all seem the very same or only slightly different if at all. I've especially noticed this with the STG plugs, which would have had more vast differences when made by their original Irish makers. We are now living in the Danish gentrification ghetto, everything...

    Orlik Dark Strong Kentucky query.

Condor kills it. DSK isn't really strong, the name is misleading, the flavor is okay but a bit on the sweetish side. Condor is darker, deeper, and more dense.

    Question About St. Bruno

I haven't tried it yet. But I did note a certain astringency in the UK pouches I'd smoke, a sort of sting, like it could have used more time in the steam-press... ...in that sense, Condor kills it, deep creaminess + bold body. All my loot as of late has gone to stocking more Condor Plug to my...

    Question About St. Bruno

Thanks for the compliment, the painterly definition is much more appealing than the overly obsessed nerd maniac description! :-) Your question was a good one, and it may be interesting to look at the case of 3 Nuns since it still carries a makers name who died out over a century ago. When the...

The Breathability Of Briar Wood - What Do You Think?

Hawky, I'm the last person to give sanding advice LOL Have a look at PMF, here's a thread there: http://www.pipemakersforum.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=9&t=9750 ...but there's probably another one with more comprehensive details. I had one of the early Italian-made Stanwell Golden Danish 63M's...

1913 BBB: Why Did it Sell for $300?

Thanks for the update Pitch. I can totally relate to the collector angle as I myself have overpaid for certain pipes in the past. Sometimes we are fixated on a certain shape or example and nothing else will do, if such a pipe rarely pops up then it is only natural that we try to "go for it...
