Another Help Me Fulfill My Order Thread

@metarzan: Blue Mountain is a great blend. It's a stronger blend than the Frog's but similar. @Jud: Unfortunately, Old Dublin had something in it reminding me of cigarettes. I ended up trading my last tin of it.

Another Help Me Fulfill My Order Thread

Larry's blend will probably make it on the list. Ten To Midnight is a good blend but a little heavier in the nic department for my tastes. I do enjoy it once in awhile though :) I have a few tins of SL but had a hard time getting into it - something about it just didn't sit right but I could...

Another Help Me Fulfill My Order Thread

Part of my Christmas gift is getting to do a rather large tobacco purchase and so I'm soliciting ideas from my fellow English blend connoisseurs. My favorite blends are HH Daybreak (AM) and GLP Westminster (all day) along with HH Magnum Opus (special occasions). I've given up on VA's and I only...

    Drying...it works.

Definitely propose dry time; it can change things. There have been many blends that are ready to smoke right out of the tin that I don't enjoy (Virginias and VAPers, it seems) but when I give them even just 10-15 minutes of air time they become great smokes. I think, especially with Perique...

    N-hit with Early Morning Pipe

When I hear a blend is heavier in N, I'll pack a smaller bowl (half or less) and see how I react. Also, don't be afraid to put the pipe down for a bit when you notice it's more than you'd like. I've only more recently discovered I don't have to avoid those blends, just handle with care.

    Whats Going On With TV?

+1 +1 +1 We don't have cable. We do have Netflix and watch a few shows but that's minimal. We were visiting my parents last week and watched some show on DIY called 'Kitchen Crashers' and I thought 'What the hell has happened to people's attention spans?!?' because this show couldn't focus on...

    N-hit with Early Morning Pipe

I've not had EMP yet but smoke Russ' Daybreak almost every morning which was made as a sort of replacement when EMP wasn't available for a while a few years ago. No nic noticeable with that one and that's always on an empty or almost empty stomach. I'm really curious how those compare cause my...

The intersection of history, physics and philosophy...

I see this type of thinking all the time but find it misses the point. To state that physicists are too busy to worry about philosophy is as good as saying we shouldn't worry about whether our findings are logically valid. If that's the case then how could we know anything at all? Stephen...

The intersection of history, physics and philosophy...

That doesn't follow. Just because someone may not be an expert in a particular field doesn't mean they can't comment on it. Of course, you said it's hard to justify, which may be correct but it's the arguments that matter in the end, not the persons accreditation. Thought I'd post some more...

What do You Carry Your Pipes In?

I've got the one that is pictured in lankfordjl post. I haven't tried to stretch the leather to fit my Ben Wade (carry that one a lot) but I do put it in there, just not through the sleeve. It carries that and my Neerup well. I don't often pack it with tobacco since I'll typically carry a tin...

    Best English Afternoon Blends

Ok, SL about hit it. It's missing just a little something and I can't put my finger on it. I was a little surprised at just how pleasant it was. I'm going to give it a few more go arounds. I've not been able to like Old Dublin :( I tried it, different pipes, dry times, etc., but something in...

    English Blends - Bulk Suggestions

Boswell's Northwoods gets high recommendations when compared with Nightcap. I haven't tried it yet but am looking to. It's $3.95 an ounce...

    Best English Afternoon Blends

SL is a good suggestion. I was associating it with a milder flavor profile so haven't given it a go. Will try that one tomorrow. Is the Perique very strong in Cerberus? I enjoy it in small quantities but it can really kill a lot of blends for me... I think Escudo is about my limit with...

    Best English Afternoon Blends

Hey all - I'm looking for my holy grail blend for my afternoon smoke. I think I've found it in my morning smoke but it's just not the same in the afternoon or evening. That is H&H Daybreak. Now I haven't had EMP yet but from the reviews I've read, the similarities are well enough I am figuring...

    Latakia... what's the deal ?

I like VA's and English blends but definitely have an English preference. Glad to see I'm not the only one with the Perique issue though it sounds like yours is a bit more intense! I enjoy it in very small quantities but that's about it. And when I say small quantities I mean like FMOTB...

Westminster: Should I Open and Split up a 16 oz Tin?

Alright, storing till the 5 year mark and will divvy it up at that point. I've also got a 2 ounce tin that will hit 5 years in a couple months and an 8 ounce that just hit 3 years. I've got the 8 opened and dividing that up into 3 batches - the first being for now :puffy:

Westminster: Should I Open and Split up a 16 oz Tin?

I've managed to get my hands on a 16 oz tin of Westminster that is 3 years old. I understand Greg has talked about what happens once the tin is opened in that it disrupts the aging process. My question is how much do you all think? I want to enjoy 3/4/5/6+ year old Westminster and figured I...

    I'd eat this burger

Sure is, here's the recipe: about 40 grapes 1/2 - 1 whole mostly (or completely) peeled cucumber 1/2 avacado load up on spinach (2-3 cups or a few handfuls) squeeze 1/2 - 1 whole lemon (1/2 goes further than people tend to think) small pinch of sea salt if you want That fills about 2 big...
