    "Age Limit" for Pipe Smoking?

I was secretly a cigar smoker from age 12, started with a pipe at 14. At 15 I came out of the closet and dared anyone in the family to try and stop me. Tips? Get at least one really good briar, break it in carefully, and pick a good non aromatic tobacco. I went from whatever garbage my father...

    Sell me a Dunhill.

Dunhill does not sell like that. They do not try to convince you that their item is better.

    Brooks Brothers pipe

I have not so nice story about Brooks. Years ago I bought a leather jacket there. They said I would get 20% off if I accepted one of their credit cards. I did. When I moved I forgot to send them a change of address and didn't get the bill and pay it for a few months. They cancelled the card and...

    What constitutes an aromatic?

It smells like an old lady with too much perfume.

Why are Dunhill pipes so expensive?

I got my first Dunhill around 1959. It cost $22 new. It was a #4 panel with a finish similar to amber root, but did not taste as good as amber root. Things now cost about 16 times what they did in 1959. That would make the price $352. The price for a similar new pipe now is about $500 or more...

You Have No Cellar, Nor Do I

I have combined the cellar and smoking room. I had the dining room in my house altered to become a room not connected to the kitchen. It even has a john.

    Sell me a Dunhill.

I wouldn't try to sell you one, but if you get one get a good one. Avoid the Shell and Cumberland finishes because they are bad tasting. If you decide to get one, let me know. I have some cherrys and bent Dublins that never get smoked.

thinking of trying a Peterson but ??

The P lip is ok, but it is harder to get a cleaner through and instead of tongue bite you get roof of mouth bite. Generally speaking, and I hope this does not offend anyone, Petersons are of much lower quality than they were many years ago. I prefer the system pipes because the stem comes off...

Pipe Tastes Bad after first smoke.

Dryout time for a good smoke is at least 5 days since the last smoke with that pipe. If it is poor quality briar it can be much longer. A pipe tastes much better when it is completely dry.

    Dunhill "big three"

Flake was the best seller at one time. Might still be.

    The Adventures of Sherlock Holmes

I started smoking a pipe at age 14, about the time I got the complete Holmes stories. Have you tried the McClelland Black Shag? I rather like it, though I admit there are better smokes. It would probably be good for rolling cigarettes.

Pipe Smoking is Lowering My Blood Pressure

Please believe me, nicotine raises your blood pressure. You are kidding yourself if you think it lowers it. There is probably another reason for your pressure going down. Weight loss, a broken BP machine or something else.
