High-End Pipes - Do They Improve the Smoking Experience?

You need to define by yourself what are you expecting from an high end pipe as mechanical properties/functionality and aesthetic. I would say than anything above 300 $ is just aesthetic so if you are willing to go above that figure you have to justify to yourself for the aesthetic. Below that...

Do You Keep Certain Pipes For Certain Types of Tobacco?

Given 95% of the time I use morta, meer and clay, I do not smoke aromatics in briar, and I clean the pipe with water flush after every smoke I am not too much concerned with ghosting and I have not experienced yet.

What Are Your Favorite Blends Still Available?

My favorite blends are the ones I am not mentioning here as I don't want them to disappear because of the hoarders :)

    Tobacco Past It's Prime

[ Yeah, once you open something with some decent age on it, prepare to smoke it soon after as it will deteriorate quickly when exposed to fresh air.] Do you think this apply only to ribbon cut or also to plugs and twists?

Storing Cigars (Machine Made) In Jars

First of all I am not an expert in cigars at all so forgive me if I say an eresy. But if it could be ok storing cigars in a tupperware or jar with a boveda pack, could also be possible to store them in a mylar bag with a boveda pack?

    Time Tested Blends

I am not giving any advice of a specific blend with purpose first of all because we have all different tastes and what is good for me is bad for another one and second because our taste and preference can change quite a lot particularly at the beginning of the pipe experience. What I would...

Creative Alternatives to Ziplock Bags for Daily Amount?

One nice option could be the baccy flap such as this

    Chocolate for an English Smoker....

As said Bob's Chocolate is probably the best for mix of chocolate and Latakia. Not Latakia in but I found the most chocolate taste is, despite the name, GH Scotch flake. It is more chocolate than Bob's Chocolate.

    Lepeltier Pipes

I have the billard. It is great as it is completely neutral returning the real tobacco taste and does not get ghosted, and being double walled it can be held by the bowl as it does not get too hot. I think double walled models like the Lepeltier is the way to go if you like clay.

    Ennerdale Versus Kendall Flake

I like a lot Ennerdale flake but I never tried Kendall flake. Looking at their composition it looks they have some similarities. So the question is if Kendall flake is different enough to justify to get it and in which way do you feel it is different from Ennerdale.

Smoking a Tin Until Done or Whatever Strikes Your Fancy?

I keep about 20-25 tins opened and rotate among them. In the past I was jumping randomly among them, now I tend to do 3-4 bowls in a row from the same tin, reason why you can capt some small flavors of a blend if you smoke few times in a row.

    What Makes a Good Pipe?

As it was already said it is completely subjective and there is no size which fits it all. Said that for me what I am looking as first thing is the smoking characteristics which for me has to be neutral (no flavor imparted by the pipe) cool and dry which is why I bend more as materials toward...

    Gawith vs. Gawith

[If I order from Synjeco what would be your top 5-7 items to procure? I hear the items made for them by Gawith are interesting as well.] One more I forgot to mention is the Revor plug, a strong Virginia/dark fired with tonquin scented in some way similar to the cob plug but with more Virginia...

    Gawith vs. Gawith

[If I order from Synjeco what would be your top 5-7 items to procure? I hear the items made for them by Gawith are interesting as well.] Let me first answer your question about Synjeco blends made by Gawith. I have some of their ropes and they are wonderful, particularly the Grenodd rope and...

Looking for Burley-Forward Blends with Very Little Latakia.

I might suggest Peretti Cuban mixture. It is a Burley based mixture with probably the highest number of different leaves (they claim 9) including Latakia and Oriental. Nothing even close to be called English or Oriental but very tasty and very low nic.

    Gawith vs. Gawith

Going back to the question posed in the thread about differences between SG and GH, provided there is a lot of overlap between the two I would say the 3 differences which can be found are: 1. SG are mainly Va or Va/Per while often GH includes Burley or sun cured leaf which means they can bend...

I Hate Breaking in a New Pipe

If you don't like to break in a new pipe get a meerschaum, a morta or a cob. No need to break in and IMO they all smoke better than briar.

    Save Boxes?

I keep boxes for any item which can have a collectible value such as fountain pens as it was mentioned. Mainly because I see the package as part of the complete item and second as it can keep an higher value (even if I never sell the collectibles I have).

RIP Ennio Morricone: Oscar Winning Composer Dies Aged 91.

A great composer who knew how to bring back your emotions. Even more than the sound tracks of the Western spaghetti movies I am attached to its more mature compositions for Director Tornatore and every time I listen to the sound track of "Cinema Paradiso" it bring me to tears. RIP Ennio

Filling a Pipe - Rubbed Out and Then Rolled in the Palm of the Hand

When I saw that video years ago I started to pack in that way and I never came back. Doing so I always pack quickly in the right way particularly avoiding overpacking. Highly recommended.
