    Threaded Metal Tenon On Dunhill

Based on the time period your pipe is from, the lack of a dot means it’s a replacement stem.

    Confused About Stems

It could be a stem issue, but it also could be the airway in the briar itself. Also, switching stems is a difficult thing because most likely the tenon of a new stem (the part that gets inserted into the wood) won’t match the mortise (the receiving opening). A new stem will have to be custom...

My Estervals Order Was Sent By USPS To Customs And Has been Shipped Back To Germany

This happened to me with a pipe I bought from Gustavo Cunha in Brazil. Same story “insufficient address.” The address was perfect. Happened two times in a row, and I was never notified. Finally he sent it to me via DHL. Weird.

    Parting With the Pipe.

I wish you well and am sorry to hear about your health. Things like this await us all, I imagine. As I’m sure you know, you are always welcome here, and hopefully that is able to take some of the sting away.

What Should I Expect with This Type of Pipe?

I have a Falcon with a completely meerschaum bowl and it smokes just fine! I would recommend them.

It’s definitely the original stem. Every pipe in this line has a stem like that. It’s an interesting run of pipes. All of mine have been excellent.

    1920 Amber-Stemmed Dunhill Fitment

    Amazing pipe, by the way.

    1920 Amber-Stemmed Dunhill Fitment

I believe I have seen white spots on tenons somewhere...you are in a tricky predicament. Perhaps there is a way to secure something along the whole surface of the stem, so that the force of a gentle rotation would be spread out over the whole stem? That might be the safest barbarian’s way to...

I’ve had four pipes in that line. Still have a panel billiard. Very excellent in my opinion.

    A McClelland English Replacement?

I smoke Latakia blends at most four or five times a month. I’m usually a Virginia smoker, so the chances of Latakia blindness are very unlikely haha. In fact, I believe it is the tobaccos that aren’t Latakia that make these blends so enjoyable to me.

    A McClelland English Replacement?

Haha, a valid point. I only have one tin of British Woods left, and even though Margate isn’t easily obtainable, I interpret the hope that every three or so years I’ll be able to find a tin as “happy news.”

    A McClelland English Replacement?

Happy weekend, friends! I am currently combusting my very first bowl of Esoterica Margate. I believe, if I was blindfolded, I could easily mistake this for McClelland British Woods, or maybe even Wilderness, which had Syrian Latakia. As this is my first bowl, I have yet to do a proper...

@didimauw Dr. Grabow Appreciation Thread (8/2/2020)

Great idea! I’ll contribute later. Well done, Didi!

    Ennerdale Versus Kendall Flake

If I’m not mistaken, some of the Gawith flakes are the same base with different flavorings added. Kendall is different from Ennerdale, flavoring-wise. It’s closer to Grasmere, in my opinion, if you’ve ever had any of that.

    My Orient Express

I recommend Cairo as well! I love McClelland Orientals myself, and after exploring, Cairo is the closest I’ve come. I haven’t had many others though.

Please Meet The French Pipe № 5

Very nice, and pretty pipe bag! Dip staining doesn’t bother me, but there are those who dislike it. Great looking pipe! I hope it serves you well.

Do You Smoke for a Nic-Hit?

These are exactly my thoughts on the matter as well. My enjoyment of both coffee and tobacco is limited by my reaction to both caffeine and nicotine. It’s a bummer!

    Ken Byron Blends

So, I had my first smoke of Sakura. To me, it is exactly what Rattray’s Exotic Orange (now “Passion,” I think?) is, only with cherry rather than orange. I think anybody who likes or wants to try Exotic Orange really would enjoy Sakura. They’re like sister blends, to my palate.

    What A Joke

You can check where you are in line for the alerts in your SPC profile. I’m somewhere in the 4,000s for Stonehaven haha!
