    Favorite Pipe Duplicates

I’ve always loved the Dunhill LC, but had no silly dreams of ever owning one. I commissioned an updated rendering of it from Gustavo Cunha. It’s an amazing pipe, my best smoker...then...about a year later, an amazing friend of mine (who happens also to be Brazilian! How neat?) sent me his 1950...

Jim's Sutliff Cringle Flake (Holiday Edition 2020) Review.

It’s funny you mention that, because Simply Red tastes like a bland Sutliff Virginia to me. Jim’s reviews are great, and this Cringle Flake sounds nice, but I haven’t had a Sutliff Virginia yet that gives me any desire to buy more. I’m not sure if I’ll pick up a tin of this or not yet.

I Got Scammed On Instagram, Careful Out There

I was one click away from being scammed trying to buy a Dunhill from what turned out to be a Philippines fighting-cock breeder...the story is even weirder than it already sounds, but fortunately I got just suspicious enough at just the right moment to prevent things from going through. I’m sorry...

Mac Baren HH Pure Virginia at 5 Years

Great review. If I smoke this stuff just right, it tastes like a marshmallow toasted over a campfire. Lots of flavor potential with this flake!

Warped "The Haunting" Now at SPC

I highly recommend it! Earthy cigar spice and earthy Virginia taste. I’m a fan!

Put Your Theoretical Science Hats on Please

Almost every Gawith tobacco, as much as I love them, does this to me. For my case, I’m still assuming that as dry as I get them, they’re still not dry enough. I think it’s a steam burn rather than chemical. Your case may be different than mine, though.

    New Dunhill Billiard...Real? Or Fake?

There’s nothing alarming to me. Unusual? Yes, but not alarming. I believe it to be an underlined 14, making it a 1974. Everything looks to be 1970s to me. The missing “Root Briar” stamp is really the only thing that’s odd. In the big picture, Dunhill was pretty consistent when it came to...

    DunHill Lighter Rebuild

I did the same with two vintage Dunhills. The kits are great. Nice work and congratulations!

    Dunhill Stem Question

Oftentimes, the subsequent year may be stamped onto a pipe if the pipe didn’t leave for a store in the year that it was made. For example, a pipe may have been made in 1955, but didn’t leave the factory until ‘56, so it would have the date code for 1955 and then another date code for 1956. Your...

    Dunhill Stem Question

Cumberland (or more properly, “brindle” stems puffy ) were used on Root Briars throughout the 1930s. Regarding the EX, I believe it means the pipe was given out as a replacement under Dunhill’s warranty. Check Pipedia, it has tons of Dunhill information there!

    New Dunhill Billiard...Real? Or Fake?

The DUNHILL stamp to me looks like 1970s to my eye. Post some more photos for us once you receive it!

    New Dunhill Billiard...Real? Or Fake?

Don’t worry yet. The photography isn’t the greatest. There’s enough authenticity that it wouldn’t alarm me. More nomenclature may be evident once the pipe is in your hands. Additionally, people are devils with buffers and some nomenclature may have been buffed off. Don’t panic yet.
