I was just thinking today while sitting in my car drinking a coffee…. Surprisingly not smoking a pipe.
We have three pillars of good tobacco left;
The Yanks: Corniel and Dhiel/GLP
The Brits: Gawith and Hoggarth, and I think some others that are never available.
And the Dannes: Peterson...
That is odd they don’t sell Peterson tobacco at the Peterson store, I’d be curious on why not…. Maybe your friend could go to a physical store in the UK? I‘ve heard Gawith and Hoggarth are well priced there, in England, I’m sure someone will chime in here. I recommend their product.
OK, I’ve heard this a few times online, I mean it is the same part of world, easy mistake…. So then STG will just be pairing down on some of their Danish properties then? Consolidating warehouses… Hopefully it works out. Truthfully except for Amphora a bit, I don’t smoke a ton of Mac B.
Actually just checked, my tin of Nightcap says manufactured in Denmark by STG, so it’s still possible Mac B makes them, I could swear I heard that, contracted my STG…. So the Peterson line could still have issues.
I was under the impression Peterson was manufactured by Mac B, i stand corrected…. I guess I’m already more under the STG mob than I thought, not just Orlik Golden showers.
Now they just need to take over Gawith and empire will be complete,,,🚀
That is generally what streamlining does, like Walmart and Amazon, they set prices and bully farmers on price, forcing consolidation or quitting.
I’m less concerned about Mac B, but the Peterson/Dunhill line, and Sutliff….
Even the location of a factory makes a difference on quality, I know this from Scotch…. Streamlining is generally not good. Lagavulin tried to get the same flavour as Laphroaig, but couldn’t and they were a distillery NEXT door on Islay, they attributed it to microbes in the air.
I heard an...
Quite common. I went aros, Lat for almost 10 yrs, quit, then Virginias, Kentucky, a mix,,, Now I enjoy most genres, a bit of each each month. Maybe 10% Lat blends now, Nightcap, all in or all out.
So the OP is trolling,,,?😆
I burn a hot pretty fast puffing pipe, then take breaks when the bowl gets hot and have never burnt one out. I have got the occasional side cracks in the bowl though, doesn’t bother me in the least, the cake will slowly fill it in anyhow.
The first question is how old is this jar storage setup? I’d assume everything will eventually rust. I have mostly dollar store knockoffs, and just under 5 yrs everything I’ve checked is ok, and we have a humid summer, dry winter. It woulndt surprise me if the good Italian jars are Chinese...
interesting, I never understood why the Dottle burns so poorly, and you dump the pipe and still have lots of tobacco. It is water. I thought it was smoke resin, but Latakia is loaded with creosote and burns fantastic. I have recently figured out this year how to burn it though, it takes about...
For me I don’t and never cared much, just wipe the bowl and pipe cleaner the stem, that includes Lakelands and Englishes. The tiny residual flavour doesn’t bother me and disappears quickly.
However recently this one pipe I have has become my English/Nightcap pipe, just out of routine, not...
yup, fermentation is a strange mistress. I can make one batch of sauerkraut, cabbage and salt, put it into different jars, store in the same place, and each jar will taste different. Pretty sure it’s based on which bacteria takes over…
As for the aged tobacco, the OP, opening the jar will...
Cheaper low end pouch blends will have more fake flavourings, and higher end blends will generally be more natural, but not 100%. It’s like dollar store Captain black cigars Vs Cubans. But I remember getting Mac Baren vanilla flake and it reeked of fake chemical flavours, in fact I’d prefer...
1 big teaspoon sea salt dissolved in a cup of water gargled will kill TB once you have it, speed healing as it’s very alkaline. So might also work to prevent it too. But haven’t had much TB fortunately since around 2017-ish myself…
