    Sutliff Reserve Eastfarthing

    I’m a fan, a good balanced blend.

What Tobacco for Breaking-in your Expensive Pipes?

I smoke the same tobacco in all my pipes, because I like it…. People complicate this hobby too much. I clean after each smoke and find ghosts mostly overrated or not worry of a slight flavour including with Lakelands, my new favourite is Ennerdale…. Overrated for my level of tobacco use, 6-10...

    New York City

Central Park? I believe it is technically smoke free, but as a guess you would find the opposite in reality, lots of smokers there.

    Another pipe dedication question.

Since I don’t dedicate pipes at all, all I do is clean the pipe including the bowl after each smoke, I certainly wouldn’t worry about a slight variation in Lat blends…. Occasionally a sweeter blend residue may import a slight sweetness on the next bowl, is that really an issue, then it’s done...

Occasional pipe smoking with canker sores

yup, acidic foods are a big cause. 1teaspoon of sea salt or baking soda in a cup of warm water gargled. This solution is highly alkaline and destroys the acid of the sore.

    Order size

A general rule to buying tins, although this may seem obvious is two. One to try and at least you have one more later if you like it…. I’m mostly just interested in what I like as opposed to limited releases...

How to Deep Clean my Pipe?

I’ve been smoking the same Neerup for 6-8 eight months, not sure why I have plenty of others, it’s a stand up that’s why, and it finally got plugged despite regular cleaning after each smoke… First, after each smoke run a paper towel in the bowel and pipe cleaner in the stem, this avoids lots...

    Buying Pipe Tobacco in SoCal

Yeah hit up cigar shops, you should find the odd pouch…. As much as reputation precedes a place, as long as you are not near kids in parks I’d wager anything no one will harass you, most will compliment. California is actually one the original freedom areas as hard is that to believe now... My...

Hawaii Bans Online Tobacco Sales: SHTF Scenario

Quite the stash you can start dealing with that, or get 5-10 years smoking. Nightcap is one of my tops, as is Ennerdale mentioned above, truly exceptional, although some dislike it. What is going on with this government psycho behaviour, now pipe smokers who don’t even inhale are dangerous…...

    Best online retailer

I really like SP.com too. Good service, prices, selection, sales, what’s not to like, except the government important taxes in Canada…lol. I even like their cartoons on their Sunday email…. They’ve always done me right.

Is it Possible to Have an Allergy to Latakia?

I think you’re on to something about forest fires…. As a Canadian I worked near the fires a couple weeks ago, not the important job fighting them, but you could smell the smoke strongly. Many of my colleagues had eye irritations and such, I didn’t surprisingly. Then a few days after I had some...

Is it Possible to Have an Allergy to Latakia?

Interesting, I get that reaction (a sore throat not swelling) on any blend when I smoke too much, which just means slowdown. I did get pretty sick twice next day after smoking a Kentucky Dark Fired based blend I make myself, that does have Lat too, I figured it was nic poisoning from DFK, who...

How to store small spun cut coins intact?

I used to do this exactly, the tote is like a DIY humidor, however the tins started to rust sometime after 3-5 years from the humidity. I now use glass jars, or for tins just leave them out on a shelf in boxes.

    Drying flake tobacco

I’d prefer jarring whole flakes as I like the flavours flakes produce as they age. You could break a few down at a time, or I don’t see why a whole flake couldn’t be put on a sheet of paper or whatever and over a piece of plastic or screen or something to allow for air flow, it would dry like...

    Favorite “Plain” Tobacco

VA’s tend to have that effect on people, underwhelming at first then you grow to really like them, this happened to me. Like Peterson pure Virginia flake happened to me…

    Pipe Polishing: Needed?

Most modern pipes have really good sealers on them and will shine for years, maybe you just need a paper towel or rag wipe. Heck even many older pipes do, I have pipes from the 30’s that still shine without any waxing or buffing, maybe the occasional wipe… However, storage is an issue. I...

    Washing Mason Jars?

I do wash, very simple. Poor in hot water, let it sit a few hours, this dissolves whatever is in there, dump the water, paper towel dry, then air dry for a few hours…. Don’t let water sit in the lid though, dry that immediately or it will rust. As for old jars, I’ve never fully emptied one as...

    Dear Gawith & Hoggarth

This thread and reading that bickering one convinced me to order some, I could only get Ennerdale, not some of there pure Va flakes, but it looks interesting,,, not pricey either. I thought maybe they were more hype, but I’m less believing that now.

    Question about Peterson Nightcap

I like a bunch of earlier posters didn’t find nightcap that potent in nic, medium, what it is strong in is taste, smoke tar grime bitter soot from the high Latakia. I think it’s strong tasting, but not too strong, I like it… my mixture 965, Old Dublin, have Cavendish thrown in it to mellow the...

Tobacco Taste in Short Term Storing

I’ve been smoking over a decade, and just noticed that this spring…. I had noticed years ago whiskey tastes different almost everyday and that’s more about taste buds, because it’s the same stuff from the same bottle with the same age, different day.. However oxygen changes a bottle over time...
