Peder Jeppesen and Neerup’s “Salmon Silver” Line of Pipes

A steelhead, Salmon or trout? Complicated…. Because even though it’s a trout, it is classified as a Pacific salmon, if that makes any sense. The big one below is a Great Lakes steelhead I caught, and the little one is actually a trout from a small lake. I really like Neerup pipes and a silver...

    The Five Families

Italians make some fine pipes, and food too…. Ardor has my eye the most, impressive pipes, as well as Radice, some day for the collection but no rush now, I have lots of good smoking pipes. For factory pipes it’s hard to top Savinelli, so many shapes and styles and designs. Rossi the Sav...

Smoke became tasteless in the final 1/3

Thats pretty common. Lots of things can happen, the topping burns off, the smoke constantly going over it makes it bitter. I wouldn’t worry about it…

    Favorite Peterson Blends

1-Nightcap 2-Old Dublin (underrated, pretty sure it’s the same as 965 but cheaper, same components same makers, but haven’t smoked both together) 3-Flake, I like it, but I’d prefer stock up on Orlik or SG Flakes 4-Gold, outstanding Vanilla aromatic, but unfortunately it’s been discontinued...

Nicotine Buzz on a Empty Stomach

Of course tobacco potency is the biggest factor and your response…. I like higher end potency tobacco’s which are generally made from better leaf.

    More Frustration W/SG Flakes

I had the most trouble smoking an Ennerdale flake tin than any other brand I’ve had before, however, after I did this, they burnt fine, even wet. They are dense heavy flakes. Rub out as usual, but once you have the pieces keep shredding them, pulling them apart sideways, until you have much...

    Neerup Pipe Question

I have 4 Neerups, all smoke great. The 2 bent apples will plug a little easier, as they have the tightest air space, but nothing a little cleaning doesn’t fix. If you’re getting good airflow at the beginning, but not lots of smoke that seems odd to me? Any brand or maker can make the odd dud...

    Experiences with eBay.

I see Fleebay as a thrift store/junk shop, you may find amazing undervalued finds or rubbish from scammers…. However, at least in a thrift store you can hold the merchandise. I once searched a famous pipe maker on EBay, and clearly they were knock off pipes.

G.L. Pease's Take on Panel Pipes

After a quick search this is labeled as a panel pipe, although when I purchased it I had no idea what a panel is, just liked the look. It is a Neerup 6 sided take on a bent panel. It’s the pipe I’ve smoked for 90% of the time this year, for no other reason than it stands up, easy peasy.

Sealed Tins, Jars, and High Altitudes

I’m thinking they’ll be fine, but your ears may pop💥

Who is the Greatest Living Artisan Pipe Maker?

I don’t really care for most high end artisan pipes although there might be a gem once and while that catches my eye. I’d say Ardor consistently makes the nicest pipes I’ve seen, and they aren’t top of market price wise either, though not factory prices. IMO Neerup makes the nicest lower end...

    Cadence

I’m also a hot puffer…. I smoke a hot fast pipe and generally only slow down when the bowl gets hot, although each smoke session can vary. However after 3/4 of the bowl and the nic kicks in I may enter a “dream state” and slow down cause I’m thinking of something else.

    Flake Tobacco (PS Navy Flake)

Yes that’s sort of the point, a Virginia flake that has some topping, but smokes like Virgina with just a touch more sweetness, apparently it has honey topping. I was actually thinking Sun Bear, but it isn’t available, so apparently Bijou is close, but that is just what I’ve heard. Yes Mac B...

    Flake Tobacco (PS Navy Flake)

You may want to go to Smokingpipes.com and google; Virginia Flake aromatic. They are flavoured flakes that smell nice, and are a little sweeter, but still smoke like a Va. I’ve heard C/D Bijou is good, but haven’t tried it yet, soon, but heard positive things.

    Cyrian Latakia

I read it could be true, could be a rumour, something else to cellar now, maybe that’s the point to create a panic buy…. I went aros, better aros, English for years, Virginia Flakes, Virginia aro Flakes, now I basically enjoy/need all in my rotation. I’ve enjoyed the Lat from Cypress as much as...

    Something To Consider

I own maybe 30 pipes, but only smoke 4 right now, and one of those mostly for the last 6 months, but I have more pipes to buy that is for sure😉. And I usually hit 2-3 blends at once until there is just one bowl left in the jar, one scrap to hold onto I guess. Also better stuff comes in I like more.

Any Experience with Cheap, No-name Cobs?

Before I even read the other comments I was guessing it is a Chinese knock off... MM cobs are so cheap it’s barely even worth trying another brand, however, clearly your purchase was an accident, oh well stuff happens. They make some pretty good products in China these days, but still lots of...

    Lakeland Tobacco

Ennerdale is flavoured but it’s mostly pure Va flake, with a few % burley, and smokes like that. In a blind tasting, I’d guess Va. Its nothing like those Cavendish based OTC aros at all, nothing,

    Lakeland Tobacco

I’ve really been enjoying Ennerdale and consider it a favourite and will be stocking up this fall, the only one I’ve had…. The first notes are oranges and fruits followed by “perfume“/Lakeland essence, if the order was reversed I probably wouldn’t like it, but it creates a great smell. It’s also...

Jim's C&D Sun Bear Tupelo Review.

For me it’s fantastic, possibly an all time favourite, just had a bowl and wish I ordered more…. It’s like a cross between a sweet codger aro and a good Virginia with orientals for complexity, subtle but tasty. Incredible nose, incredible flavour, yet still decent nic unlike codgers... I tend...
