Smoking Tobacco Based on the Season - Yes or No?

I don’t necessarily appreciate being told when and what to smoke, in which pipes, so that answers that. But even from a practical point of view a heavy Lat blend tastes as good to me July 4th, as December 4th. I smoke everything all year, and it’s more about stuff I like, not the seasons. But...

    Comfort Food Tobaccos

You’re gonna have to find out for yourself…. I’m sure all good suggestions, but may or may not resonate. I’m 15 yrs in and just starting to dial in what I like.

Returning to Canada with Tobacco: Receipts Required?

funny you mention this, what Province you in? My last order got hit for 212$ bucks for 3 tins, I also had it reassessed and it went back to customs, they sent it to the States sender, but there was no address so it went to a postal depot in limbo, then back for reassessment I ordered it…. So...

Why do English/Balkan Blends Burn so Well?

I think this is true, although I never actually thought of it. These days I only smoke well prepared flakes, and English is the only ribbon cut I smoke because you get a good burn and full mouthfeel. I find other ribbons to be too thin, but would certainly smoke them if that’s all I had, just...

Returning to Canada with Tobacco: Receipts Required?

Yes the FB article rules, News articles that can’t get shared, are a dispute with government over paying royalties to news organizations, and Meta won’t pay.. You can make the case either way, but I’m shocked it hasn’t been resolved yet, that is bad for users, I haven’t been on FB much recently...

Pipe Tobaccos you Might Find at a Cigar Store?

Btw, to answer the second part of the question, try anything, most is good and it takes time to develop a taste. Captain black white or Royal is a good start. Myself I like higher nicotine tobacco, but it took time to figure that out…

Pipe Tobaccos you Might Find at a Cigar Store?

In Toronto Canada close to the US, it is usually Mac Baren lines, Mac Baren, Peterson, Amphora, and OTC aros, always the same stuff. But I did see one carrying a bunch of rare Gawith tins recently, so I’ll be back there…

    Whoopsie

I don’t think it matters if you leave them in big jars and interrupt the aging once to go smaller now or later. But my gut tells me the conclusion of not constantly disturbing the big one is a good idea, especially for longer term.

    Ghosted Meerschaum

Meerschaum has lots of pore holes, but with cleaning and smoking 5-10 bowls, I’m sure it’s gone…. Does it even affect your smoke now? Mild ghosts don’t bother me, I chock them up to stuff people obsess about now, they never used to.

Smokingpipes.com carries, Brigham, Rossi, Savinelli, Ropp, Chacom, Peterson, Nording that all have 50-100$ new pipes. They even have a pipe tool where you can enter the price range and get a few hundred in that range, or select by various shapes and styles, ect

Making Time For Your Pipe When Traveling

Maybe some of those hotels that were converted, didn’t just have urine and mold, but also… …lots of bedbugs😀

    Nicotine Absorption

good question... For me it’s about 2 inches of tobacco or 3/4 of a medium cigar. So if I smoke a bowl that is one inch deep, I need to reload and smoke another before I catch a buzz. If I smoke a 2 inch deep bowl, near the bottom. Not as quick as you might think, and yes tobacco strength is...

    5k Pipe...

I sincerely woulndt pay 50$ for that top pipe, because I don’t like it.. 👇 But I think it’s famous estate carver.

    Damaged, cracked or normal?

It’s character. I have a Sav that has a couple of those, I like them. Only if it extended to the inside of the bowl and created a weakness could it be a problem, took me a minute to even find it.

Carrying Pipes Back In The Day

Yup I just use pockets and put my pipes in the sheaths they come in or I’ve sowed a couple myself for estate pipes. Or for travel or long walks a bag or knapsack.

    Zippo Yellow Flame Pipe Insert

Ahh OK, you have to be a bit careful, but it’s doable. The straight up flame one above would concern me. Lots complain about that one for pipe smoking.

Perfume/Incense Note : from Latakia or Orientals

Now that you mention it, could be... I used to smoke a lot of Old Dublin and it had an “old Turkish street cafe” note, now I smoke Nightcap it is just more smoke/tar based probably because it’s higher Lat, lower oriental. My favourite blend is Ennerdale, so I won’t be complaining about incense...

Is a Zippo Suitable for Pipes?

I just bought the new pipe butane insert by zippo brand, and enjoy using it, no complaints. I’ve heard Z pipe or Z plus makes a decent cheaper butane pipe insert too, that generally gets good reviews.
