    Is This a Real Peterson?

Pipe makers constantly experiment with modifications, a rounded rim means nothing unless you know the exact series and it’s limited and doesn’t have those riMs. looks real to me, I’d keep it especially if it was cheap, what’s the loss? It has nice grain too.

    Is This Normal?

Except for English, I recommend Peterson Nightcap as an English, more Smokey less sweet than Plum, if you don’t like heavy smoke then disregard it, I ONLY buy flakes now. Richer flavour, slower burning for sure because of compression, and thicker mouthfeel. Took me about a decade to figure...

    Beat the Gurgling!! Here's how . . . . .

Toronto, oh yes there’s decent trout here, but nothing like British Columbia, you have to work a lot harder for less fish, unless maybe Great Lakes steelhead or lake trout, or northern ON. I’m more after back lakes trout for a meal.

    Beat the Gurgling!! Here's how . . . . .

Bass, thumbs down 👎🏼, lol. I’m from Ontario bass are everywhere, but if I lived in BC, it would be trout and salmon all day, I guess you like what you cant have. Just came back from Algonquin Park and caught a nice 2lb brook trout. After I netted it and brought it pretty far on shore I...

    Ghosting Paranoia

I Am anti-ghosting paranoia. Paper towel bowl wipe and pipe cleaner, and smoking all different tobacco’s in each pipe keeps it fine, including aros, lakelands, and strong Englishes, I could not care less. Maybe smoking one strong tobacco every day for years might create an unpleasant ghost.

    Zippo Butane Pipe Lighter Insert

Almost completely sure they will, you just mail it in. Yes that’s my point, I’ve heard people say the ORIGINAL new Chinese flints that come with the lighter aren’t good, you need original zippo flints, again that’s just what I’ve heard.

    Zippo Butane Pipe Lighter Insert

The Zippo is well known for good warranties. Yes I’ve heard bleeding is a solution, and cheap Chinese flints, maybe try new flints even if it sparks. I’ve not come across either issue though.

    Zippo Butane Pipe Lighter Insert

The butane pipe insert made by Zippo has a 2 yr warranty, so you’re covered. Mine is 4 months old, no problems. I’m not a daily smoker though. I agree with others it’s not perfect, small button, you have to angle the flame perfectly not to rim char, but all things considered is the best...

    Further explorations of Latakia

I was under the impression they have a sweet topping, but might be wrong and haven’t smoked any myself, or yes proportions. Nothing wrong with not liking lat., lots of other options out there, I like and need all genres now. You probably wouldn’t like Nightcap, my new favourite English, it’s...

    St Bruno

I bought a package, very similar if not identical to Amphora Dark fired Kentucky, made by Mac Baren too, hmm. Good, but I doubt as mentioned here like the original.

Canadian Import Advice Help - Tax was 200%!

Sounds nice…. Yes I’m a fisherman too, they‘d be brook trout there, a really pretty tasty fish.

Canadian Import Advice Help - Tax was 200%!

Yes just come with 4 or less tins no worries, you’re not high on their list of targets, lol. I’m surprised you were searched that is pretty rare,,, Even more tins would be ok if you declared, but I woulndt bother unless you needed the smoke.
  14. elvishrunes

    Cellaring Tobacco

Yup, the oxygen will be consumed by the tobacco fermentation, and turned into C02 which will pressurize the jar on its own. That’s why old tins puff up and can pop. Just use a quality good jar,,,

Absolute Mildest Nicotine With Latakia and/or Orientals

Old Dublin by Peterson. Based on Latakia, Orientals, Cavendish, all low nic, it also has Virginia too, and it’s very tasty.

Canadian Import Advice Help - Tax was 200%!

So customs have recently started to get aggressive here, however, there’s a pretty easy solution, unlike some of the useless gum flapping or typing above,😂 1-yes there’s a set price they can charge. If it comes in too high; 2-tell your postal clerk you decline with a REASSESSMENT, you fill in...

***What Are You Smoking, March 2024?***

Smoking some Gawith cherry rope (lightly flavored) in my new second only proper churchwarden ever, this lovely Sav 921 brown rusticated one, since I purchased my first a Sav Quandale in 2012. That pipe was nice looking but it was straight and only 8”, it just didn’t “feel” right somehow...

Accidentally Removed Some Finish off the Rim

Your pipe doesn’t look bad, I’d leave it, or a little oil, You could sand just the flat top and stain for a new look, but that’s decent work, probably not worth it if you don’t have the tools on hand.

Accidentally Removed Some Finish off the Rim

This is an extreme move I wouldn’t recommend on a nicer pipe, but I had a pipe from my step dads grandad given to me from around 1930s or 40s that had bad rim char and cuts, so I torched the whole thing and sealed it with oil. Then wrapped in a little silver wire I had left over. For a nicer...

    What Prices Could Justify Contraband?

Mostly it is too niche, and contraband would generally have to be similar quality, unlike in canada with native produced cigarettes that are much cheaper, it requires more skill to make pipe tobacoo, and the market is too small. However smuggling from a low tax region to high tax one could...
