Hello fellow pipe smokers,
I was wondering usually when these “limited” blends come, how many tins do you guys typically buy?

Sometimes with FOMO, I get carried away finding a blend I love and only ended up buying one tin, then poof they are gone. I have ended up buying 20 tins to mitigate this and ended up sharing with friends.

Another note is prices have been skyrocketing past two year and I end up cellaring some tins as well.

There is no usual, often zero, sometimes more but I don't buy many even then. Buy however many you want, IMO. I'll bet it's the same for most, no reason to feel like there is a reason to justify a number.

Completely varies from person to person and release to release. Personally there are two "limited" edition runs I will buy, the first i really like and the second i really really like, so the second one i will probably go 20+ tins deep because that year isn't coming around again. Look at Cring Flake, 2020 was a different blend from 2019 and no longer just a straight VA.

A general rule to buying tins, although this may seem obvious is two. One to try and at least you have one more later if you like it…. I’m mostly just interested in what I like as opposed to limited releases...

It really depends for me. If it looks appealing, usually I'll grab 2-3 tins if I've never tried it before. This way, if I like it, I still have 1-2 more tins and if I don't, I'm only out an additional $25 or so. On the flip side, tins like CRF, I'll usually pick up 5-10 tins since I know there's a much better chance that I'll like that year's version.

Usually 2-3... 2 if it's something I am unfamiliar with, 3 if it's something I like. ...can be hard not to load up tho haha

I’m still fresh in the game, and don’t see the point of spending hours of my time doing something I’d rather not (that’s where most of my money comes from) on a bunch of stuff I may or may not even like.

Scarcity by design induces greed, and up to this point in my experience at this little journey of life most of humanity’s woes stem from greed. Be it want for monies, approval, power, control, pleasure, or just that which another has it is all pushing us farther from the men our creator formed us to be, and shall be the ruin of mankind.

It depends. If I know that it is something that I like or is popular I buy some tins. If I don't like it well... That is what Secret Santa is for...no?

I usually buy two or three depending on the budget at the time. But there are a few that I really love and will by ten of when available.

In regards to the special releases and how many I buy, vs my normal purchase of, say OGS…im fortune to have a few good B&Ms around me. Which allow me to buy one. And should I like it, I’ll get another.

I usually buy one to try it out. In that way, if I don't like it I’m not out of pocket more than a few bucks. If I like it I will buy more if available.

I often order seven tins—five for myself, two for my buddy, Chris. Other times, whatever it takes to get free shipping—today, that was six tins: four of the new Sun Bear, two of the H.H. Rustica (Chris will get one of each). I learned to not order books with tobacco, as the jostling tins in the box dent the books during transit.

Always 3, 1 to try and the other 2 to have in case I like it before it sells out, if I don't like it I can always resell or trade. Unless it has unusual components like the Rustica and Katerni offerings that have been showing up I'll get 5 to 10.

The phrase "Stoved Rustica" won my interest in Pipe Force. One tin of each, as they come out.
If I really like one and it's not out of stock yet, maybe go back for another 1-3.

I don't buy limited blends. I don't worry about FOMO. To each their own.
