    Show Us Your Tobacco Stash

Haven't really bought anything in the last 10 years, this is all at least that old. Should get it better organized but half the fun is finding a tin I didn't remember having. The last shot is of some old Tobacco Jars...

Have U Ever Tried Smoking Pipe at the Shore

Al, I try to spend at least a week there every year, they have a surf derby every Sep/Oct. The summer crowds are gone and people are fishing everywhere. BTW, Orlik made a line of pipes with integral wind screens, The Hurricane was the name. I also have a similar pipe with just the name Typhoon...

McClelland Bulk MC 5100 Red Cake

Anyone know when McClellands started making Red Cake? about 10 years ago a shop was cleaning out their back room and among a bunch of other bulks I found a bag of Red Cake they thought was from the 1980's. I bought it all, about a pound, and sealed it in Mason jars, 4 oz. each. It's been aging...

Have U Ever Tried Smoking Pipe at the Shore

On a different note the Hudson valley Pipe Club used to hold it's meeting at a restaurant in Cold Spring NY, right on the side of the river. One month one of our founding members was a bit early for the meeting and took a stroll long the quay. Thought he saw something down in the water and a...

Have U Ever Tried Smoking Pipe at the Shore

Surf casting from Chappaquiddick Island with my Randy Wiley Capt. Earle pipe. Works OK on calm days. I have a few pipes with windscreens for when the breeze kicks up.

Clay Tobacco Pipes = Need Your Opinions....etc,..

Here's an interesting article about clays, unfortunately Stephen Bray appears to have closed shop. I have one and got some for friends, they were quite nice pipes.

Are Dunhill Pipes Even Worth It?

My notes show I got it on eBay in Feb., 2000. The pipe is very light and still has the chuck marks inside the bowl along with some small initial in chalk. I would love to smoke it but I think it's too rare and have plenty other pipes to defile first..

Are Dunhill Pipes Even Worth It?

Fatboy, I have several older Dunhills that came with replacment stems. The only way I could tell they were Dunhills was by careful inspection with a magnifying glass of the nomneclature. They usually cost between $5-10, the rims were burnt or knocked up and chipped. But after a cleaning they are...

Are Dunhill Pipes Even Worth It?

Like most things, some are and some aren't and it depends on the buyer to pick. Here's one I bought that wasn't worth it, I've never smoked it but it's a boring shape, too big a pipe for me and I will sell it soon. On the other hand my Dunhill Churchwardens are definitely worth it, they are...

    Antique Store Trip

This goes back a ways but it happened to me and quite a few of the northeastern pipe community knew about it and can confirm. I was told by a friend about an antique shop that had some pipes for sale. I went down there and there was really nothing special, a Dr. Grabow and some no name pipes...

What Do YOu Do with Your Empty Tins?

Down in the basement I nail the top to an overhead floor joist. Then I can screw the bottom and it's contents (small parts, fasteners, etc.) up an use it for storage. The guy who owned my house before me bought large 1lb cans of Capt. Black, Borkum Riff, etc. and when they were empty he filled...

    Meet Erick Nording

I met Erik at Chief Catoonah's Smoke shop in Ridgfield CT some years back. He had his "Worlds Biggest Pipe" with him, a pipe made of several hundred other pipes. Really a delightful man to talk to, if you don't want to talk pipes he'll talk hunting all day long. If you possibly get to The...

Anyone actually use cheroot holders anymore?

They were popular 100+ years ago, can you even get cheroots anymore? Some of the nicest meerschaum work I've seen was done on these little guys. Here's one that's old and was never smoked. I like it in the white and those little black eyes make the piece...

Gorgeous pipe for sale on ebay

I have that same pipe, I probably paid $4-500 for it about 10 years ago. The only reason that one went for $3100 is because it was number 2 of 350 and at one time belonged to Richard Dunhill, Alfred's grandson. If you really like that pipe keep an eye out on eBay, eventually one will come up...
