    Do You Believe in Devolution?

I definitely believe in the probable de-evolution of human institutions and cultures, all that takes is a streak of corruption in key locations. While de-evolution among animals isn't so likely without some astounding and detrimental changes to their environment, human evolution can certainly...

    New Fancy Plug Knives

I suppose it's telling a tale on me, that upon reading your thread title "New Fancy Plug Knives," my first thought was something like, Why would anybody be shopping for plug-bayonets for muzzle-loading military muskets?

Are Netflix and the Like Dying?

The writers can be colossally ignorant and/or stupid a lot of the time. Some of them have Commanders senior to Captains/Colonels and Commodores/Brigadiers. Woman pulls a mangled copper jacket out of their fake corpse and the guy watching declares out of nowhere "That's a .243!" Amazing! Out...

Are Netflix and the Like Dying?

The onset of "reality TV" was the beginning of my inability to find much of interest to watch on broadcast TV. We got rid of cable when our last kid moved out, as there was little we watched on it besides BBC America, and we no longer needed all the sports channels for him. I tried Peacock...

    What's your Favorite Coffee Mug?

While it broke years ago when I was stationed at MSO Portland OR, my still favorite coffee mug had a drawing of the most mournful looking hound dog you ever did see, and the caption: "Smile, later today you won't feel like it." Currently, I'm using the one my sister sent me a couple of years...

    MLB What Do You Think?

I've read a litttle about "cross-country golf" a time or two, and have wondered if it might be better exercise than Winston Churchill's "a nice walk-about outside, ruined by a small white ball."

    Garage/estate Pipe Finds.

Only at one yard sale, ever. They had two hardwoods and one cob, all falling apart and a bit beyond even minimally fixin' up enough to smoke while shoveling sxxt.

    MLB What Do You Think?

I admit to abandoning all thoughts and spending on anything to do with baseball in 1985, though I don't remember if it was a strike or a lock-out that season. Professional athletes are ENTERTAINERS, not heroes. Whose life did they save? How did they make the world a better place to live? How fat...

    Anyone Ever Smoked Sumac?

When we bought this place in late '04, there was a small stand of Staghorn Sumac growing inside of a patch of bamboo some previous owner allowed to take root. The sumacs have since been choked off and killed by the bamboo, which I still haven't managed to eradicate.

    Fraudulent Tobacco and Pipe Site!

Regarding how much this swindler nets from each victim, remember the profits accrued from the Numbers Racket, and how small the amounts gathered from each participant are.

Pineapple on Pizza: Yea or Nay?

I dunno, but my cousin's half-brother got me started on Black Pepper on Ice Cream.

Forgot Where I Left Some Tobacco, and Still Can't Find It!

My wife still claims that she bought me a pound bag of pipe tobacco two Christmases ago, but she has yet to discover where she hid it before getting around to wrapping it that year.

Pineapple on Pizza: Yea or Nay?

I remember back when I lived in Oregon, "Canadian Bacon and Pineapple" pizza was well known. They weren't too bad, just not my first choice. Until one of those sailors who went west after 1492 brought some tomato seeds back to Italy, and then years went by before Europeans were willing to eat...

    Is rosewood toxic?

Sounds like it would make for a hazardous room to enter during a structure fire!

    Leatherman Multitools & Their Imitators.

If you ever have a night in the pub like that again, just make sure to refuse whatever any guy named Solomon wants you to cut in half!

    Captan Black Grape Discontinued!

Every once in a while, I'm actually in the mood to burn a bowl or two of that Grape Nehi flavor I get from CB Grape.

    The “Parfait Jar”

It's an ever-changing mixture (mine's labelled the Odds of the Ends jar), every time you add in some, it changes; every time you take out a bowlful to smoke, it changes. Don't be surprised when it surprises you!

Meerschaum-Lined Briars!? What Sorcery is This?

One thing about a Meer-lined pipe, you don't have to deal with a beeswax coating since there''s no outside meer surface.

    Intimidation, Y’all Know too Much

I have two JACOB pipes, both #10 but one is smooth and the other rusticated. When I tried to find out about them online, I only found information about a "Jacob" shape clay pipe, made by many companies over the 19th century (mostly) that were an old man's face with a long straight beard. That...
