Looking good. You are indeed on a roll.

    Has anyone had a discectomy?

I had surgery 8 1/2 weeks ago on a herniated L5 S1 disc. Before the surgery I was a 10/10 in pain. I could only get relief by sleeping on the floor with my feet in a chair. But I'd have to wake up at 3:30 AM to be upright by 6:30. The last hour of trying to get up was beyond belief and generally...

    RIP: Malcolm Young Of AC/DC.

It's not necessarily the complexity of the music that made Malcolm so great as it is the absolute precision. They are tight and dialed in. Malcolm was like a clock. A big, heavy, loud clock. It does feel really weird knowing that he is gone forever. Even with all the health issues he had, I...

    New Member

Welcome! You are gonna love it here. My opinion may not be worth a hoot but I'll offer an alternative view: Rather than trying to recreate the cigar experience with the pipe, go completely different and appreciate the differences. I like cigars and pipes because they are different.

    My Most Dramatic Pipe Restoration

Right on, man! Love it. Makes me wish I had searched harder for the parts of my Bari after the lawnmower had its way with it. http://pipesmagazine.com/forums/topic/bari-special-handcut-vs-lawnmower

    Discussion For Next Restoration Contest

First, thank you for bringing this up again. The last one was a hoot.i like the idea of a modest price cap verses a brand restriction. Alternatively maybe have it be for a particular style of pipe. Cobs, bent billiards, etc.

What Colors of Dyes Do You Use?

I'd really like to hear about what colors you guys are using to re-stain pipes. Even better would be pictures. Is anyone using light colors like the tans, yellow, etc? I've only used dark colors in the red and orange, black and dark brown hues.

    New Meer Pipe

I was looking at pics of the gargoyles at the National Cathedral to see if there was anything like it, but there wasn't quite a match. Are these pipes carved as one-offs? It's amazing.

Photobucket breaks the Internet. Scoundrels. At the risk of sounding vindictive, I hope it backfires on them.

    C & D Pirates Kake

I stopped by the local cigar shop today and spied a tin of C & D Pirates Kake. 75% Latakia. I smoked one bowl and I have a feeling that I am going to need to smoke a few more before passing judgement. It didn't strike me immediately as my new favorite. I love Latakia blends but after smoking...

    J. Singleton OHV Motorcycle Pipe

Sometimes I get the urge to eat dinner while riding my motorcycle. If someone invented a plate cover I'd be all over that.

Repairing and Refinishing a Painted Grabow Rim

I use VHT or Duplicolor high heat engine enamel for these pipes. I think the color that matches these red ones pretty well is called Universal Bright Red. Here are a couple pics after a few smokes.

Repairing and Refinishing a Painted Grabow Rim

The first thing I did was to top the rim by placing a piece of 220 grit wet or dry sandpaper on a hard flat surface and rotating the rim around on it and then repeating the same process with 400 grit and then worn out 400 grit. Then I taped up everything but the rim with blue painters tape. The...

Repairing and Refinishing a Painted Grabow Rim

Hey Folks, If you have an old color Grabow with a scorched or beat up rim, here is a way that you can make it look like new again. Here are a few before and after pics of a red Viscount that I spruced up a couple weeks ago. In the first pics you can see that it is pretty beat up . The rest of...

    Found a Barling!

Nice find, lucky dog! Do you think you'll leave the bowl alone or perhaps rusticate it? Can't wait to see this one.

    Your Favorite Virginia Blends?

Thank you for all the great info, guys. I cannot wait to try some of these. The ones I have tried so far have been Erinmore Flake, Newminster Superior Navy Flake, and Newminster Superior Round Slices. I love, love, love the Newminster stuff, which by the way, was gifted to me by a forum member...

    Your Favorite Virginia Blends?

I've been mostly smoking VaPers and fairly heavy Latakia blends for the past three'ish years. Recently I started trying some Virginias and I really like them. What are your favorites? What should I add to my next order?

Working My Way Through Burley Blends

This is a GREAT post. I haven't tried any burley blends yet. If I just added TWO to my next order, what should they be for starting out?
