Peter Heinrichs Dark Strong Flake & Orlik Dark Strong Kentucky Review

Great review Nomad. I have both in my cellar but have only tried the Orlik version. Thanks for the comparison

    Watch City's Double Barrel

Wow. Sounds like it could be quite a delicious Christmas blend. Looking forward to it. Thanks Don

    Watch City's Double Barrel

This blend is set to be released by Watch City on December 9th as per their Fall Blend Release list. Does anybody know anything about it's makeup? I believe it is their annual Christmas blend. JIminks, have you tried it yet?

    Warhorse Bar - Marshmallow??

I believe someone said that they had asked Russ about the possible change in the flavor and after smoking a sample of a recent tin he said he detected no difference from the earlier productions. I've only smoked from the first produced so I can't say. It is good stuff though.

SG Cannon Plug Is No More!

Hi Simon. Is there another blend, SG or GH, that Cannon plug is similar to? Just curious. And what are your thoughts on RB Plug?

    Condor Alternatives

I may be wrong but I don't think Condor has any dark-fired Kentucky in it, which I believe St. Bruno does have in some amount. So to me they're not quite in the same ballpark but St. Bruno is an excellent blend and one of my favorites as well. It is quite readily available, as the GH Dark flake...

    Would You Pay?

Hi Simon. Your first remake, the War Horse Ready Cut, if that had been a plug instead of loose cut, was that one intended to be more like the plugs from the 70s/80s, flavor-wise? Because the old plugs didn't have the added flavors that are in the current War Horse Red did they?

My 7 Day Set Of Classic Pipes Created By Jack Howell

Nice Harris. Even Peck would be envious

Will It Ghost? G&H Sweet Coconut Twist, St. Bruno Ready Rubbed

St. Bruno doesn't really have any Lakeland-like taste. It has some kind of light topping that is kind of floral-ish but you notice the dark fired more than anything. It's a good blend

    Favorite Tobacco?

To Hawky: Yes indeed. I treasure it. Use it sparingly but enjoy it immensely every time i smoke it. I understand Simon's obsessive taste for it all these years. Nothing like it

Mixture 79 VS Half and Half

Admittedly it has been a few years since I've had any Half&Half, but at the time it struck me as just a ho-hum smoke. Mixture 79 on the other hand is a very flavorable blend, which tends to produce either a love or hate response to it. I like it. No where similar to H&H to my tastes

    Two Days, Two New Pipes

Thumbs up. Especially the Neerup. They're such a good value

    Aged OGS

My experience with it mirrors Hoosier's and Shane's. A tin purchased in Dec. 2013 was only meh to me at that time. I smoked it sporadically from then on but after 6 years it had become sweeter with a little bit of spice which I took to be the tad of perique that is purported to be in it. If you...

Union Square, Newminster Superior Navy Flake, and St. Bruno

Interesting that you find St. Bruno to taste like OGS without the sauce. OGS has no dark-fired (Kentucky) and St. Bruno does, which to me makes them miles apart
