When we say aromatic Dark Flake are we talking about Dark Flake scented or is this something else entirely?

They are doing away with Kendal Cream too? I think I have enough KC to last me a lifetime but I only have 10 years (maybe) worth of Dark Flake scented.

Also sorry to hear about Cannon Plug, I know it has a rich history and it has its fan base. What a shame!

Something tells me that tobaccos in rope and plug form might be far less popular in continental EU and Scandianvian countries than it is in the U.S or England,
I don't think they are extremely popular here, except maybe among forum fanatics like me. Most tobacco users relate plugs and ropes to chewing tobacco, even though most are cross-genre tobaccos. Even the name Cannon Plug, could easily be confused here for Cannonball Plug, which is a famous chewing tobacco (at least in the South)... and that one would definitely taste bad in a pipe.

Hi Simon. Is there another blend, SG or GH, that Cannon plug is similar to? Just curious. And what are your thoughts on RB Plug?

Sigh

(1) The SG “season” blends are currently having supplier issues.
(2) the factory is no longer stocking Canonn Plug, Kendal Cream Flake, or Dark Flake Aromatic, nor holding any packaging for these blends. If enough orders accumulate to meet minimum order requirements, they will be produced again.
(3) happens all the time, no wing nuts in charge.

Cannon Plug has not been “grandfathered” or otherwise filed with the FDA AFAIK, so, as has been the case for a long time (forever?) it won’t be available in the US through an official importer.

A UK retailer is free to order Cannon Plug, Dark Flake Aromatic, or Kendal Flake directly from Gawith. Rather than being sent out the next day, or given a date when it will be shipped, they will be told that the request is subject to minimum order requirements. When orders reach a certain point to justify making the tobacco AND going to the expense of getting the distinctly unique UK packaging lined up, the orders will be filled. This is standard operating procedure in the domestic UK market.

Though Tobacco Reviews lists Dark Flake Scented and Dark Flake Aromatic seperately, they are the same. Years ago, Sheffield Exchange, the official US importer, decided that they didn’t want to use the term aromatic to describe these blends. They are the same. Oh, now, in the UK, the use of Aromatc is verboten, so UK shops, such as Black Swan, advertise this as Dark A Flake. Same tobacco.

Export markets are a completely different deal. If the new US distributor wants about the same amounts of Dark Flake Scented and Kendal Cream (now KC in the US) as has been ordered in the past, all other things being equal, the factory will make it.

I just don't know the answer to that question David. The who Rose Geranium Plug situation is becoming quite complex. My immediate thought was RB Plug but that is not really Rose Geranium and always reminds me of a Grateful Dead concern or a Hippy girl hanging out at Stone Henge!
I'd second the notion that RB and Cannon are not very similar. I taste/smell spice (cinnamon? clove?) in RB that is absent in Cannon, which is more purely floral. I think Cannon and Ennerdale are close, but Ennerdale has an almond component that is missing in Cannon, I think.

Let’s take Rose Geranium Plug out of this conversation.
As far as I know it was a one off for Glynn.
