Thanks mate, I shunned high end pipes until I got this one. Just didn't know there could be such a difference. Now I am always on the lookout for another one or 2.

My most expensive would be the Phillip Trypis poker I bought off Briarbid. Paid $60 thinks it's worth around $150. Next in line would be my Savinelli Tundra straight billiard that I paid $110for

alexl, I did not know that about Bond, the couple of times I checked their prices they were high, maybe it was just the ones I checked. Glad to hear you are happy with the deal you got.

I think the most expensive pipe in my collection is this Karsten Tarp:
DSC_0517-300x198.jpg

I think I paid somewhere around $475 for it if I remember correctly which I think is a bargain compared to how much I love this pipe and how well it's made. I don't know if it's my best smoker only because I haven't smoked it enough to fully break it in. I only smoke it when I have the time to give it my undivided attention which isn't very often. I can say that it has always smoked wonderful from the get go.

I have sixteen pipes made for me by pipe artisan Bob Hayes (www.bobhayespipes.com). They are all excellent smokers and the prices vary fro $200 to $350.

One of them...

Mine would have to be either a Steve Liskey sandblasted lovat with mammoth ivory (not sure on retail, I got it at an auction) or a Dunhill ODB 837 Bulldog (also not sure of retail)

I guess my most exspensive pipes would be my Charatans Make Supreme S100, Then a (cp) Distinction, then I have a Savinelli Autogragh, and Achilles Favorite Sea Coral Capri Natural Straight Classic. all great smokers.
Mike.

I'd say its my Larrysson Pic Axe. I only paid about $550 (or something like that) and thought that was a bargain. I only smoke it on special occasions. Its a fantastic smoker. My second is my Soren Picaxe. Huge bowl!

For lack of a better word, that is one bad-ass pipe, zonomo (the Larrysson). Thanks for sharing the pics.

I'm going to revise my entry here. I paid the most for my Stanwell Hans Christian Anderson churchwarden at just under $200 (I am in Canada) but my most valuable pipe would be my Trypis freehand that retailed for $70 around 1970, my estimate is that in today's dollars that would translate to something like $300. It's also my best smoking pipe at the moment, followed closely by a Stanwell bent Dublin de luxe. I have a feeling the HCA will turn into a great smoker based on the two smokes out of it so far.

Revising,
My most expensive pipe would be this Stefano Santambrogio which supposedly retails for $225.00. I didn't pay anywhere near that.

I'm enjoying this thread for a few reasons:
1) There is some fantastic pipe porn up in here.

2) It's fun to read the stories behind the pipes.

3) I really like seeing the updates, as folks' collections grow.
The pipe in my rotation that is worth the most is probably my Grade 7 Trypis Freehand Egg. It is also my best smoker; although the BB&S Straight Brandy that I just cleaned up may give it a run for its money. The Trypis Egg has the perfect hang, and turns every bowl into a lovely white ash no matter how badly I butcher the packing of the bowl. I purchased this pipe as part of a collection of 31 NOS Trypis pipes. I kept it because of the small divot taken out of the outside of the bowl. I am SO glad that I did.

A lot of nice pipes already posted. My most expensive pipes MSRP are my two Ser Jac Picta #13, smooth and sandblast. They retailed for $600.00 each years ago. I worked at a pipe shop in Baltimore and picked them up using my 50% employee discount.

Okay, here goes:
Stanwell POY 2010 (with shipping I think I paid just over $200):

Dunhill 835 ODB (paid $157, but I saw an unsmoked one sell for over $600):

Dunhill Bing (gift from Foggy, but I believe they run $600 or more new):

It will be a while before I get up into such rarefied company. My most expensive pipe thus far is my Stanwell Zebrano, which I showed off in detail not that long ago:
