SHERLOCK HOLMES IN WASHINGTON (1943)

Top: Looks like a meerschaum and note the white dot on top of the stem.

Bottom: Nice pipe rack and humidore. It's looks elevated so it's probably a carrossel. And note the meerschaum next to it.

I waited till the whole season was dropped before starting the second season of House of Dragon on HBO. Compared to GOT as a 10/10, this series gets a 8/10. So many times the director had the opportunity to show us heads exploding when they were hit, or work in some hardcore sex scene, but they didn't. WTF?! My wife turned to me, when there was a scene when a head was decapitated, and the director chose to move the camera far away for the actual decapitation, my wife turned to me and said, "this is softcore Game of Thrones," ha ha. But, i will keep watching it. It is a rather good story, despite these apprehensible decisions that the director is making. :::sigh:::

Not quite relevant to the thread, but I'm in a sort of 80s fantasy bender, watched Conan the Barbarian, the Destroyer, Willow, Krull.

Conan the Barbarian is a film I have watched many times, and every time it gets better. It struck me, after several times watching it that it has absolutely minimal dialogue yet the story comes through. And let's comment on the soundtrack, it's stellar. For a kid who played (Advanced) Dungeons and Dragons Conan is an RPG film.

The Killer staring Michael Fassbender was quite good. I liked the self narration throughout the movie.
Showing on Netflix 4 out of 5 for this one.

Currently watching an old Sherlock Holmes TV series with Ronald Howard as Sherlock and H. Marion Crawford as Watson.

Enjoying the heck out of this. 5 out of 5 stars.

I watched that this weekend. It was really good. It helped put the cowboy wars in perspective with what was going on in America at the time. And, it helped who why the term "cowboy" doesn't mean just a ranch hand.

I downloaded "Hell Hole". It sounded like a gore fest which I usually don't like, but after reading the plot I figured I would give it a try.

Right at the start it has a bunch of Napolion's troops snooping around in the woods. Then the shooting starts. I couldn't believe it, the soldiers all had they're bayonets mounted on their rifles up side down. The bayonet mount was completely blocking the front site. They wouldn't have been able to hit a damn thing. I figured that if the film makers were this careless (stupid) the rest of the film was probably crap. It annoyed me so much that I stopped watching it and deleted the darn thing!

I watched a few seconds of this and it seemed to be winking really hard at me. The conceit is its self-awareness? Maybe I’ll give it another shot.
