We watched Cat on a Hot Tin Roof and The Magnificent 7. I’d give Cat a 3.8 maybe. It’s good. If I puffed a pipe every time they said “big daddy” my waggle would be burnt to a crisp. Magnificent 7, now that’s a Hollywood picture (despite it being Japanese - but Kurosawa loved Ford westerns so it all comes full circle). Now that gets over a 4. 4 point something. Ok, 4.1. Gun fighters never win, even the ones who survive. They’re like the wind. They blow in and blow out! Yes!

Bremen Pipe Smoker's review of Galloping Gertie was a good one. Wife was cracking up when he was a passenger on the autobahn! 3.5

Baseball and Hockey playoffs. During dinner if there isn’t a game on, we’ve been making our way through the seasons of Curb Your Enthusiasm. Previously we went through MASH up until BJ grows his mustache. Got about halfway through that season and just couldn’t continue.

Most recently I've finished Clone High, 5/5 it's a hilarious parody of 2000s high school dramas. The new season will debut pretty soon and I'm being cautiously optimistic. The original writing staff is back but sadly Gandhi (my favorite character) is omitted because controversy in India over his character got the show canceled in the first place. JFK is often shown with a pipe on the show, which is kinda funny since his real life counterpart famously loved cigars.

Whoa, didn't know Clone High is coming back! I loved that show when it came out and the end of the season was a hilarious cliffhanger.

Abbott Elementary - 5/5

A really fun mockumentary of an inner city school in Philadelphia. They explore racial tensions, teacher dynamics, and relationships in general.

Yep, the first two episodes on the new season are up on Max now along with the entire first season. I haven't started the new season yet but it's supposed to pick up where the first season left off.
"15 years ago, MTV's Clone High depicted Gandhi as a teenage rapper—and caused such a backlash in India that it was canceled https://trib.al/OdeDKQs"

Above from website. Thin skins! At least no one was going to get killed from the outrage....
Yeah and a lot of Indians are embarrassed at how outraged some of their countrymen were over an MTC cartoon. Especially since it wasn't actually Gandhi, it was a clone of him who totally gave up on living up to his legacy unlike the clones of JFK and Cleopatra who are caricatures and Lincoln and Joan of Arc who try to live up but fail. Meanwhile there was a Jesus clone as a minor character and that didn't create any real outrage, nor should it have.

Last night I watched the 2005 version of 'War of the Worlds' for the second time since it debuted.

I so nearly switched it off as the incessant high pitched shrieking of the girl who played Tom Cruise's daughter almost made my ears bleed....it was that bad!

Anyway I persevered and though I knew the story it was ok-ish & I kind of enjoyed it. I thought the special effects were pretty good considering its age.

3/5 from this almost deaf viewer.

Regards,

Jay.
