I binge watched Poker Face on Peacock, a brilliantly funny and dark detective series starring Natasha Lyonne, who starred in Russian Doll, as a sort of drifter hiding out from the Mob, who has an uncanny ability to tell when people are lying. Very well written, novel plotting and stories, and excellent casting.

The Criterion Channel is running a series of films with Marylin Monroe, starting with early films where she's a featured player and continuing with her iconic starring vehicles. The early films are interesting because she is cast in parts that show her considerable range before she became a sex symbol. Well worth perusing.

Over the last 2 nights I binged on 'A Confession', the dramatization of the true story of how Wiltshire police managed to track the killer of 2 young women several years apart.

Starring Martin Freeman in the lead role, it was an excellent watch of six 1 hour episodes courtesy of ITVX.

A well deserved 5/5.

Regards,

Jay.

I had not heard of this one, but I'm a Martin Freeman fan, so I'll check it out.

Sable, on Poker Face. I heard/read reviews like yours and two episodes in, it just didn't click with me.

It’s been out since ‘21, but just saw CODA. I was pleasantly surprised how much I enjoyed this movie. It’s a coming of age comedy drama using deaf actors to play the deaf characters. It’s about a 17 yr old student (only hearing member of the family), who helps her family bridge the gap to the hearing world, but struggles w/her new awakened desire to pursue her own dreams. 4.5/5

Watched a brilliant documentary on PBS America last night about the history of the Zeppelin airships that started bombing London in the early days of WWI.

It took the allies a while to come up with a worthwhile deterrent in the shape of a 'burning bullet' which successfully brought down many of them.

I've watched some great stuff on that channel and this was right up there, well worthy of 5/5 from this viewer.

Regards,

Jay.

"Drops of God" on Apple TV+. Apparently based on a Japanese manga series. It's beautifully photographed and acted. A 5/5 if you have any interest in wine, France, Japan or contests.
