For the degenerate gamblers .... (I used to spend my weekdays betting the ponies, dreaming of that ONE BIG DAY). I remember the year Giacomo won the Derby at 99/1 odds. He was the only horse I handicapped as best. I had a 10 cent superfecta with him on top, but cancelled the ticket, cause it was $300. When Giacomo won, and I saw the 10cent super paid $600,000... I just about died. (I had a $20 exacta that paid just north of $80,000, but I had to split that with my three brothers?. Oh what could have been.... and I had the ticket in my hand and second guessed myself?)
This movie is absolutely hilarious, especially for horse gamblers 5/5... especially the ending3C20E194-8F02-4247-ADF8-72F2CB58F5AF.jpeg

Another French classic. Has Vincent Cassel in a supporting role, along with his ex wife and former “Most beautiful woman in the world”; Monica Belluci.
A combination horror/mystery based upon historical events. A solid 5/5.0419D0B2-6EBD-4C87-9968-D9A1557ED377.jpeg

A really good French Horror film. A nice twist towards the end (though some consider it a cheat). Really suspenseful, a bit of gore, but not a torture porn like the Hostel films. 4/5.56BB4A63-44FB-479E-8024-1AF19A1E78B8.jpeg

yesterday night, I saw this, "Basic", I did not remember if I had seen it or not, I think so, it is not great, maybe a 3.5/5 for Travolta, is an actor that seems to me has grown a lot over the years, the role of Samuel L Jackson although it is crucial in the story, is quite secondary.

Love this movie. Though; it does feature a rather implausible and somewhat convoluted plot. It still features some great acting, and nice pacing.... doesn’t lull. I’d agree with your assessment of a slightly better than average overall film.

He estado viendo Six Feet Under. Lo vi cuando salió por primera vez hace 20 años y había olvidado lo genial que es.

Se trata de una familia que dirige una funeraria y definitivamente vale la pena verla si no la ha visto antes.

5/5
I agree, one of the great series of the history for me.

Today I saw "Savages" by Oliver Stone, for me it's not more than a 3/5...if you want to have a good fun time with action.

The story has nothing new or special, some touches of sour humor, to highlight for me Benicio del Toro, as always very good in his role as the villain. The direction at the height of Oliver Stone, although it is not one of his best, far from it.

Been binge watching Six Feet Under. I saw it when it first came out 20 years ago and had forgotten just how great it is.

It's about a family who run a funeral home and is definitely worth a look if you haven't seen it before.

5/5

I agree. And it's one of the really rare shows that did not overstretch their time and became boring or absurd at the end.

BTW, I recently started rewatching Fresh Meat, and again I know why it's my favourite TV show ever.

My wife and I took our 7 year old grandson camping this past Wednesday to Starved Rock State Park (90 minutes from home). Starved Rock is probably the most visited state park in Illinois. On March 14, 1960 three women were murdered in St. Louis Canyon, one of the more popular canyons in the park. The man who murdered the women just got released from prison in 2020.

Anyway, we watched The Starved Rock Murders on youtube last night. I rate it 4/5, mainly because we just visited the park...otherwise a 3/5.

@jpmcwjr John, you might enjoy this 53 minute film. If I remember correctly, you grew up near Utica, IL.

Same Day Next Year. Well worth watching if never seen.same day next year.jpg

A married man and a married woman end up sleeping with each other, and decide to meet at the same place every year on the anniversary of their one night stand. As the years go by, they observe changes in each other and their relationship.

Thanks, it was Dwight, Illinois, and I visited Starved Rock as a kid a few times. The story of how it got named fascinated me, and gave me the chills!

I believe, it was the Ottawa, trapping another band of Warriors (not sure of tribe) upon the butte, and starving them out. I believe several leapt to the death in the Illinois River Rapids below.
