Enjoyed a tasty lunch, and have about a third of a bowl left of year 2020 Watch City Rouxgaroux in a smooth medium bend 2021 Peterson POTY Natural 4AB No. 6/500 military mount with a silver cap and a tapered black vulcanite AB stem. Gold Star Peru Penachi Fair Trade Organic, neat, is my drink. Getting ready to clean a few pipes.

This retired life has more arduous labor than I was used to lawyering.

I was up to haul the trash all the way to the street before dawn and open up the chicken coop, then rose again at crack of noon to gather three eggs and fix another pot of Yuban smoking Prince Albert Cherry Cavendish in my gleaming Made in England C.B. Perkins Supreme #296 Canadian that cost me a whole $18.75 plus postage and taxes the gosh darned gubbermint levies that took the total up to $26 delivered.

My lovely wife fixed me dinner but it was poppy seed and broccoli laden so I nuked a couple of hot dogs with Kraft cheese and French’s mustard.

And she ordered me to feed the chickens some lentil she sprouted for a treat.

Any time I get sorta rebellious anout being a chore slave I recall a Merele Haggard song my dear angel mother made me memorize.

Chores 1994

After I feed them there chickens we are going to clean up her kitchen and dining room, you know?

Our youngest boy turned 31 yesterday, and we are having him a birthday party.

Well, at last there's somebody else who has a C.B. Perkins pipe! I cleaned mine, but haven't decided what to smoke it in. It's from 1943.

I decided to have another smoke before afternoon chores.
Ropp J16 with Watch City, Bi-Polar and the rest of the tea.

Love that J16, sweet pipe, and about the perfect pipe to me. If I could choose only 7 pipes, the minimum I think for a decent rotation, both my J16 and J07 would be in that august company. Going for the J07 tonight with either Steamworks or Sunday Picnic (Oriental Dedicated).

In my ongoing quest to try all the factory produced cherry blends, today I'm having Smoker's Pride Cherry Cavendish in a Dr. Grabow Royalton.

IMG20240525191644.jpg

So far I've tried Cult Blood Red Moon, Lane TK-6, Lane Very Cherry, Paladin Black Cherry, Borkum Riff Cherry Cavendish, Captain Black Cherry, Gawith Hoggarth Kendal Black Cherry, Mac Baren 7 Seas Red Blend, Middleton's Cherry Blend, and now Smoker's Pride Cherry Cavendish.

I'm on my second pipe of this one and much to my surprise, considering the big bag packaging and low price, I think it's one of my top 2 favorites! Most cherry blends have some chocolate, vanilla, or almond flavoring added (or flowers if you're Gawith) but if you're looking for just straight cherry and tobacco flavors with no added accoutrements then it's a tough choice between Paladin Black Cherry and Smoker's Pride Cherry Cavendish for which I like best!

They're both slightly sweet but not too sweet and have a pleasant candy cherry sort of flavor with no cough syrupiness, much like a cherry Tootsie Pop, and a good bit of nutty Burley and mildly grassy Virginia flavor. The Virginias in both are pretty young so they can be a little nippy on the sinuses when retrohaled, though the Smoker's Pride is the smoother of the two on account of the addition of Black Cavendish that's absent from the Paladin Black Cherry. I imagine the Virginias in both will calm down after a few months in a jar, but even straight out of the pouch I like them both an awful lot!

I continue to be both surprised and impressed by the Smoker's Pride 12 ounce bulk bags. For the low price of $25 I was expecting them to be pretty rubbish, but both of the blends I've tried from them so far (Whiskey and Cherry Cavendish) have been excellent. I don't think I'll mind smoking through 12 ounces of this one bit. puffy

Your cherry trials are fascinating to me . . . . I've been off and on with them but like a bowl two or three times a week. I share your fondness for the Smokers' Pride Cherry - it's a peach lol. You might want to ad CAO Cherry Bomb to your list. It's right up there on mine with Borkum Riff Cherry Cavendish, and surprisingly, the over-the-top and somewhat barbaric Captain Black Cherry. The Smoker's Pride Classic is also excellent, especially as a mixer. Keep on truckin'!! 👍 👍

Half way through this bowl of year 2017 Esoterica Dorchester in a straight smooth dark brown octagonal paneled mid-60s-early 70s Corporate Era Barling 4945 London England T.V.F. billiard with a square shank and black tapered square stem. This pipe is from the estate of David Cuneo. This is my first time smoking it. I barely note any remanents of David's past smokes. Ice water and bergs is my drink.

I got this Boswell for a song through a Facebook group. The stem was pretty badly chewed up and there were small dings from what looked like a drop to the center peak of the rim.

When it arrived, I reached out to Boswell's and spoke with Rachel. She facilitated a repair order and helped me with making some selections.

It arrived today and I'm over the moon with J.M.'s work on repairing it as well as the beautiful stem he paired to it. Matched the original look whilst making it a new creation!

Loading up a bowl for a first-to-me use with some Boswell No Bite Delite! In the end, I spent well less than half of what this would've cost new and it looks even better now with the blue acrylic 😎
