Hi, I have claw-egg Meerschaums like yours. The shank and claws caramelize well, but never the egg, so I assume it's by design. Maybe the egg is African while the base is Turk? Or different curing to acheive the effect? Do you know? TIA!
I've never seen a meer claw that was not one solid piece. But the coloring is something we are all still trying to figure out lol. I'm only at 8 bowls with this one (humidity sucks) but the claw is getting noticeably darker than the egg already. Could be finger oils, as it's where I hold it. But it's definetly not dirt. I can't wipe it away. My meer apple would get almost black where I touched it, from my gross fingers.
