Does that Dunhill Opera have a oval bowl? I found one in a Salvation Army thrift store in Chicago in 1990 for $2.50 it was my first pipe, now retired.View attachment 82832

Yes, it does...

Good price, for any halfway decent pipe!

I don’t see many 327’s; it seems like somewhat of a unique piece. And the manufacture date was somewhat special to me...

Yours is only the second one I’ve seen besides my own. I think I’m right in saying they were only produced from 1946-60?
I’m after a birth year pipe myself, that beautiful 2 long ‘66 Dunhill that pauliscandinavian posted earlier would do nicely. Hint hint...?

@Zepfan84 I recommend Gawith flake in a clay or they would have smoked twist back then.
My favourite pipe tobacco is Gawith Hoggarth cherry vanilla; I had a memorable smoke of it when I went to see Lace Wars at Cromford Mill in 2019 pre Covid19.
It went down well in my clay pipe!
I may get a mount and stem for it as recommended earlier and I'll give that a shot, thank you for the recommendation!
