I spit clean the rim after each smoke and use a little Everclear on a paper towl about every six months when I clean them. Of course I do not clean the rims of my briars with alcohol. One thing I do with a new cob is use 200 grit sandpaper to smooth out the bowl somewhat. Keeps from shredding a paper towel when wiping out after a smoke.
Thank you ?

Relaxing after a wonderful salad, wild caught catfish and green beans dinner with strawberries for dessert. I'm half way through this slow burning bowl of year 2021 Strang in a late 50s, early 60s Comoy’s straight smooth dark brown Deluxe 20 billiard with a silver cap military mount and a black vulcanite tapered stem. Writing review notes to add an update to the earlier review of Strang so readers will know what the differences are. Community Coffee, neat, is my drink. Watching Superman and Lois.

It's not a great blend and I don't think a Cavalier would have enjoyed it any more than I do today.

The fact that King Charles II was not a fan of tobacco there's definitely an irony to his mug being on the tin and what grandpa King James I wrote in his "Counterblaste to Tobacco" is well known
‘A custome loathsome to the eye, hatefull to the nose, harmefull to the braine, dangerous to the lungs, and in the blacke stinking fume thereof, neerest resembling the horrible Stigian smoake of the pit that is bottomlesse.’ etc.

Yes, all the Tanga Amboseli meers (and not just that brand) from the '70s that I've seen have that pre-smoked look:-

Doesn't go into the pre-smoked look but offers other info on your African meer pipes and the company that made them:-

Snap (or close), young man, except my example is from the late '70s:-

He could always do something similar to what a previous owner did to this early 17th cent portion - mount it with a silver or gold coloured band, add attractive stem and hey presto a thoroughly smokable pipe is reborn:-

I think I may do this! I wonder if a pipe shop could fit a mount for me.

GH&C Scotch Flake as the inaugural bowl in a rusticated Savinelli Punto Oro Clark's Favorite with a glass of A de Fussigny Selection Cognac:

It took about 3 puffs for me to fall in love with this pipe!

Great draw, lightweight, highly clenchable, and decent chamber size all in a very attractive demi-churchwarden!

I am enjoying PS Luxury Navy Flake in my MM bent Country Gentleman. It’s the first time with this tobacco that I picked up a sample of at Open Door Cigar. I wanted to know if I should buy a bigger amount online
I will be getting more. I really like the Virginia flake with the hint of perique. How does the Newminster 400 flake compare? I know it’s a straight Virginia.

Can we get a review on that blend? Or at least a few notes?
I'll do better than that. I'll throw in the Peanut Butter review, too. Btw, I came up with the blends because I don't eat candy on a diet, and these two blends satisfy that urge. With coffee or hot tea, they sate the general hunger urge as well. I don't think any blend was devised to help out a dieter, but it was time somebody did, lol. ? :) More btw: I make no money on this, so I have no financial interest when I post about these blends. I gave the ideas to John Brandt, and we worked on them together. I just wanted to see them in the market place, and be able to smoke them.

PB&Chocolate:
Full disclosure: I am the co-creator of this blend. The very rich peanut butter topping is more obvious than the subtly deep, creamy chocolate. They are the stars of this blend as they synergistically meld with the tobaccos without totally drowning them out. There are some nuts, earth, wood, very light molasses and spice from the Maryland burley along with a touch of tart and tangy citrus, honey, bread, sugar, floralness, and grass from the Virginia. The Virginia is a condiment. The strength is a couple of steps past the mild mark. The taste is a step past the center of mild to medium. The nic-hit is very light. There’s no chance of bite or harshness, and only has a small hint of a rough edge. Burns cool and clean at a moderate pace with a very consistent, rather smooth peanut butter chocolate flavor that extends to the lightly lingering pleasant after taste, and appealing room note. Barely leaves any dampness in the bowl. Requires an average number of relights. It’s a easy going all day smoke that won’t wear out its welcome during your smoking day.

Peanut Butter:
Full disclosure: I am the co-creator of this blend. The star attraction is the deeply rich, mildly creamy peanut butter topping. The nutty, earthy, woody, toasty white burley has a very mild effect. The noticeable aspects of the Virginia and burley cavendish are light floral, nutty, earthy, woody, honey accents. The Virginia faintly offers grass, tart and tangy citrus, grass, bread, and sugar. The strength is a couple of steps past the center of mild to medium. The taste is just short of the medium threshold. The nic-hit is a notch past the mild mark. Won’t bite or get harsh. Has a few very light rough notes. The blend is a little moist, but I saw no need to dry it. Burns cool and clean at a slightly slow pace with a very consistent sweetness that extends to the pleasantly lingering after taste. Leaves little moisture in the bowl. Requires a couple more than an average number of relights. Has an attractive room note. Can be an all day smoke. Four stars.
