This will start a sh!+ storm but I have a 67, 1990,1993,2015 and now this Dunhill. For me they are all good but I actually like the newer pipes better. Im looking hard for a WWII era Dunhill though.
I like the old ones, actually like my 76 better then the 61. I like the newer esthetic better. I like the sandblasts, generally, not the smooths.

Same here. I think the finishes have only improved over the years.
Yep, I would say this about old pipes in general. I have what came as an unsmoked Straight Grain GBD, a fine pipe, the entire rim darkened before I even smoked 5 bowls. I was careful. I’m not even complaining, we’d better hope we are getting better at the craft, especially when we are talking modern high grades. I still love that GBD, and it darkened in a way that looks fine.

I love it as a change of pace. I hate the prep though.

I preped it in six steps today, one of which was to cut my finger 😉

Step 1- Put the twist on a chopping board

Step 2- Cut it into a few pieces with Opinel Carbone

Step 3 - Chop into finer bits with Swiss Army Knife

Step 4- Cut my finger. Not really good at this

Step 5 - Decide that Swiss Army Knife is really not suitable for this, so put it away and get the Opinel again to chop into fine bits

Step 6- Put a couple of bowlful to dry on a filter paper to be smoked soon

Human hemoglobin topped tobacco would be all the rage in Hollywood.
