I appreciate your eye for sandblasts.
We have similar taste in pipes.

Although I'm well north of the fires, the wind has been a pain for the last week or so, finally subsiding yesterday. Had my first smoke since last weekend, Mac Baren Navy Flake in a Savinelli Porto Cervo 122 rusticated pot. Wifey even joined me, which was admirable considering my lopsided Scrabble victory over her this afternoon (we have surprisingly cutthroat matches!). 8/10

Bird report: White-crowned sparrow, Dark-eyed junco, House finch, California towhee, California scrub-jay, American crow, American robin, Oak titmouse, White-breasted nuthatch, Steller's jay, Spotted towhee, and Mountain chickadee.

Here's to hoping all the LA-based forum members are safe...and may you stay that way! 🙏

5Bros/DBE in the morning, The Royal Yacht this evening, with Ryback+P and C&D Exclusive throughout the day. The replacement Ropp is doing great-this one seems to smoke drier than the one it replaced.
Had to change the battery on the tractor, tend to Bob’s cuts, and fix a tin panel on the shop roof-now mama’s making scampi and gnocchi.
I was bummed SPcom didn’t have a J11 in their “fresh” Etudiants, but I couldn’t help picking up a J07 with the Ropp sale.

I found an unlabeled ziploc bag of dry tobacco and smoked it in the Vauen Olaf bent egg while shoveling snow then again later while running an errand. I'm sure it was a Country Squire blend and I think it was Rivendell. It was very good but dry. My brother stopped by to drop something off and smelled of good pipe tobacco ... I asked him what he was smoking as it smelled like an English ... he just said Peterson Nightcap. I've only just bought some myself and have only had it twice so now I know what the lingering note will be ... not bad !

A bowl of OJK in a WV ( Den's pipe shop)made Freehand. I bought this more than 35 years ago. Recently professionally cleaned and polished. Hope it still smokes well. I also have an Erik Nording and a Prebn Holm Freehands that were also cleaned but I am reluctant to smoke them View attachment 362693
It's amazing.. I, too, am finding that more and more of my own pipes are ones i bought ~35 years ago. I swear it feels like it couldn't really have been more than 20... So weird!
