A bowl of OJK in a WV ( Den's pipe shop)made Freehand. I bought this more than 35 years ago. Recently professionally cleaned and polished. Hope it still smokes well. I also have an Erik Nording and a Prebn Holm Freehands that were also cleaned but I am reluctant to smoke them DenFreehand.jpg

Odd observation here . . . most Americans I know/knew drank rye. I never did. Always preferred Bourbon (JD) and single malt Scotch. And the occasional G&T in deference to my Limey half. But only in the summer. And I preferred Yankee beer - Miller Lite of course. 😁
I love rue as a mixer. An Old Fashion isn’t an Old Fashion without the rye! I like all whisky except Scotch. I have yet to find a Scotch I like.

Well, in the single malt world there is a vast array of flavors from light and complex to dark and funky to fruity to smokey and meaty. If you're more of a bourbon/rye guy, then i'd suggest some richer offerings, such as Canada's Mac Na Braiche or a sherried whisky like Glen Dronach or Glen Allachie.
For something more fruity, one could try Indian single malt: Rampur Double Cask, which always reminds me of Lychee or even something more tropical like Baller, which is an American single malt from California.
I could go on and on...but i don't want the thread jack (off-topic) post to arouse the wrath of the mods.

And now, to keep it on topic...2010 Night Train in GH Zhang octagonal panel. ;)

Enjoyed a tasty lunch, and have about a third of a bowl left of year 2000 VaPer Three Nuns in a 1938 straight black grain relief Dunhill OX Shell bulldog with a silver band repair with a black vulcanite saddle stem. Coffee from a freshly opened bag of Gold Star Nightwish, neat, is my drink. Watching The Lone Ranger. Well, Abner the Eager got food and attention, and wanted out. Guess he figures the sun mitigates the effect of the snow and ice, silly li'l goof.

Getting ready to watch the first UFC Fight Night of 2025: Mackenzie Dern vs. Amanda Ribas 2. Having Cornell & Diehl Small Batch Folklore (2022, 805/1000) in an unbranded, unmarked, Magnum-sized Swan Neck LC (Large Curve) with a horn stem with an orific bit; this pipe is most likely French in origin, and may be from the late 19th or early 20th Century—it is curve drilled, has a bone tenon, and a cork mortise.

Busy day today. This morning I had a bowl of C&D Poplar Camp in a cob with coffee, then met up with an old friend later this morning for more coffee and had a great conversation. We hadn’t seen each other in years so it was a great reunion of sorts. Cleaned up the house after I got back and now I’m watching some hockey with a bowl of G&H Curly Cut Deluxe in a Savinelli Capri Root Briar 115 KS with a glass of lemon water. IMG_3974.jpeg
