Just finished smoking year 2012 Rolando’s Own in a smooth straight early ‘60s Lane era “William Conrad” Charatan Executive Extra Large stretch apple with diagonal channel cuts on the lower right and left of the bowl along with a black vulcanite double comfort saddle stem.

Just got the evening feeding chores done. Sitting down with an Irish clay and more Exclusive.
On the char lite and first relight, tangy sweet VA. Then everything “gives way” to a melange of a more woodsy, spicy smoke with a subtle Va sweetness.
The Perique is definitely more noticeable this time around.
First bowl was after a good lunch. Now, before dinner the strength is more noticeable 😏.

I just made my first CS purchase during the Dark Holler release and noticed this as well, but didn't have any baseline to compare it to... do you think they changed the blend or it was solely just the humidity level?
I wanted to love it because of all the hype but tbh so far it's proving to be one of my least favorite out of all the blends I've sampled so far from them.
I don’t think it has changed. When I bought my first 2oz it was a struggle to keep it lit. Letting it dry 20-30mins made it behave better. It is one better smoked slowly. Sometimes I get carried away puffing too fast/frequently.

Part of the Furniture Now
Catching up on my promises right now . . .. I said a couple of weeks ago that I'd post a shot of me and my bear rug. I'm behind on a lot of things but they'll get done. Mike took this shot with his cell phone this afternoon, and I processed it. This is the squalor I live in, I'm afraid. Not really a trophy hunter. That's my first bear taken in PG in 1987 (.375 H&H on a grizzly hunt, only got this 6'1 blackie), my first antelope taken in Wyoming in 1984 (.300 Winchester), and my first fallow deer taken on James Island in the Straight of Georgia, BC off the Vancouver coast, (.270 Winchester) in 1988. Had a few others mounted but they're in the Family Circus.

Smoking Pirate Kake (about the only thing my lips and tongue can take right now after last night, lol, in my Brigham Tundra O25S, one of my best smoking pipes - entry level bargain at $50 US.

Going back to catching up on things now.🤣

Currently waiting on a shoulder mount of a bear I took with a crossbow back in September. Nice rug, and pronghorn. Is that a stag on the left?
