Pipe Dreamer and Star Gazer
@condorlover1 Here is an example of a later made Lee with the painted on or gold leaf Stars. It is however, a great smoking pot styled pipe. A1419FA3-93D0-4615-ACE2-5C9CB245F659.jpeg
I am currently smoking this

A seven point Three Star Lee with gold filled stars. This moles as well as a later 1930s or early 40s Kaywoodie. When cleaned up and polished, there is no reason a Lee should not be considered a worthy pipe for your collection. There are a few other Lee pipe smokers on this forum other than @Briar Lee I am thankful that he chose to highlight light these pipes and bring them to our collective attention. They are a nice alternative to Kaywoodie or Grabow and much better than Marxman, MasterCraft, or Pipemaker.

I had a 'Canadian' meerschaum circa 1900s which I gave to Shaintiques since I always found them way too long and heavy to comfortably smoke. That one is indeed a lovely specimen. How is it weight wise?
Surprisingly it’s only 44 grams. I picked this up as an estate at the 2015 Chicago Pipe Show and it consistently delivers an excellent smoke.

I’m hoping to take a trip to Istanbul this summer. I’m eager to see what kind of interesting meerschaum I’ll find.

Although our famous Hillbilly attorney places them equal to 1930s Kaywoodie pipes, they are not equal in my experience. However @Briar Lee is correct instating they are indeed quality pipes. At least when referring to the ones with gold filled stars. I find they make good “reach for” pipes when simply wanting a nice smoke and not wanting to worry about messing with my better pipes because I am simply indecisive at the moment. These two required a lot of cleaning and I eventually had to send them out for a professional redo. Now, they do as advertised. They are easy to reclock and that is a plus and the stars look cool. I have one unsmoked one that is a latter build. It came with the box and the outside quality is noticeably lacking. You have a good eye. When I return from Morocco, I am ordering some more Condor. That tobacco will be used with my Lees.
I see that one is a 2 Star Lee. I have always found the use of 'Stars' sort of amusing. In the U.K Petrol Stations (gas translated into American speak) fuel was sold as 2 through 4 star petrol. Two Star being the lower octane grade and 4 Star being the higher octane grade. Both my Matchless and my Brough would only run on 3 Star otherwise you would burn out the valve seating and valves. Many Petrol Stations didn't carry 3 Star so you had to buy a gallon of 2 Star and a gallon of 4 Star to get 2 gallons of 3 Star and make sure you shook the tank well to mix it well up. Now if you took a 3 Star Lee pipe and crossed it with a 2 Star you would get .......Lol. Very nice pipe though I must say!

I was at the 2015 Chicago Show when myself and Woodsroad exhibited Standard Tobacco Co of PA. Did you get one of out STOP car air fresheners?
